Flat earthers believe that there's a global conspiracy.
From a PR perspective, Biden's debate performance was a solid win for these reasons:
EVERYONE is talking about Joe Biden, no one is talking about Trump, there is no such thing as bad publicity;
Trump doesn't know what to do if no one is talking about him or showing him on TV;
Because Biden is front and center on TV, he can now set the narrative;
After debate polls are generally favorable to Biden, so he got the basic job done;
Biden is the only person to contradict Trump to his face in real time on any issue and Biden didn't hesitate in calling Trump a liar to his face on national TV;
Biden was immediately back out in public and on TV, Trump was no where to be seen.
Lots of good things to pull out of the debate for Biden and his team.

I thought there was a good chance Biden would blow it.
If only there were someone dynamic and effectual to replace him… but from where I’m standing there is not. No one in the pipeline is near enough for national attention or a reasonable chance at trouncing Trump and MAGA.
I definitely picked the right movie for tomorrow's Movie Night! 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 (𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟒) is a wonderfully positive, funny, well acted and heartwarming movie. Also has some really good music. Based on a true story of a group of gay activists supporting UK miners in their strike of 1984. You might need a uplifting distraction this weekend if I were to take a guess! Even if you don't normally "do" movie night, stop by and say hi, movie night is a feel good kind of place, no politics till after the movie please, that's why it feels good! It is a keep your sanity reminder. Open thread before the movie (8-9pm ET) and after the movie. https://open.substack.com/pub/ziggywiggy/p/wonkette-movie-night-june-29-pride?r=2knfuc&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
It is also worth noting, and repeating until it becomes a meme, that Trump's father died of dementia. Dementia often runs in families and Trump is showing the signs.
It is clear that Joe had a very bad night. It was awful. But, people are so focused on their dismay that we are overlooking how terribly Trump performed. While Joe was somewhat befuddled, Trump was extravagantly insane. Crazy facial expressions, wild fantasies of greatness and control, disconnected sentences, inappropriate anger and delight. Though his sentences were grammatical, he rarely made actual sense and was usually talking about six things at once. The guy was obviously crazy, and not in a metaphorical sense.
As a Joe booster, I am now more sympathetic to the desire for a different, more vivid candidate but I fall far short from thinking that Joe can't do the job. If the debate was judged by transcript, Joe was smart, experienced and had good plans for the country. Trump was manic and demented.
Even though Joe had a bad night, anyone that could look at those two and think, I want the lunatic, is a bad person and I continue to think that most Americans are not bad people.
TeenX recovering well (and acting in the normal weird post-anaesthetized condition) from wisdom teeth extraction. Whew. Taking turns monitoring her, answering bizarre questions carefully, telling cats to leave her alone, telling Newfie it's okay, stop barking like CANNON FIRE, you've already had access to check over the situation and get pets from patient, now zip it and, finally, go outside!!
Also about to get prepared to have mammogram in a little while. I am quite nervous.
Okay, remember IT'S JUNE, HE HAD A COLD, IT'S FINE. NOW CALM THE FUCK DOWN AND BRUSH IT OFF, WHAT, ARE WE AMATEURS HERE??? WE GOT THIS. HE'S GOT THIS.
And we could always pitch in some more. BE REASSURING AND CONFIDENT.
If it makes anyone feel at all better about last night, I spoke with my 90 year old evangelical grandmother after the debate last night. This is the grandma who actually TAUGHT good news club after school every week. She said that she's never been a huge fan of Joe Biden's, but that Trump is pure evil and that if he's elected, she is afraid of what that will mean for all the children coming up in this world. I almost cried with relief to hear that coming out of her mouth. Take heart, people. At least some of them are seeing what we're seeing.
Goddaughter just turned 21 - in China - where she has been with my spouse for the past month. Goddaughter was adopted there at age 13 months and has never been back. This trip was supposed to have taken place in summer 2020, but a global pandemic intervened for four years.
The culminating moment of the trip was to be a visit to the orphanage where goddaughter spent the first year of her life. For the visit, a ton of paperwork was required, and just a couple of days ago they were told the paperwork was inadequate.
But someone came through for them, and they made the visit, where goddaughter, thinking that she might just get to see the outside of the place, instead walked into a big party thrown in her honor. They had a huge banner welcoming her "home," gave her flowers and a luncheon, and had photos taken with various local dignitaries. Just incredibly moving. And she's so moved herself she can barely speak.

I saw the ‘not great bob’ coming.

TeenX in recovery from wisdom teeth extraction; cat-brothers acting as nurses.
All seems well.

Shit shit shit shit. Chevron got overturned 6-3. We’re fucked. Totally.
One more conspiracy theory to consider; three buildings came down on 9/11. Building 1,2 and 7. 1 and 2 were hit by airplane.
I gave money last night...trying to stay calm.

My favorite conspiracy theory? That the rest of the world and all the creatures in it is real and not just part of my imagination.
Oh hello good morning!

Be careful Chicken! I need my quirky sidekick for Movie Night.
