Spotts and Callyson look like the kind of people you meet and instantly want to be life-long friends with. Congratulations you two! And thank you Rebecca for the wonderful wedding pictures. I'm so glad Baconz was there, too! What a gorgeous spot to get married in, I'm very happy for them that everything went so beautifully.

I've heard tell that there are different time zones for the eastern and western coasts. On the Gulf coast though, I've found that if you keep your clock set to, oh, 40 years or so behind the times, it's accurate enough.

Ha! I've actually now lived in all 4 of the time zones in the continental US. Grew up in Central, then moved to Pacific in the late nineties through early aughts. Then we moved to Mountain time in 2008, and finally Eastern last year. Of all of them, I think I preferred Mountain the best. I loved always having sunlight by 7am no matter what time of year (maybe that was just Albuquerque) and, honestly? I loved that it was so quiet and unassuming. I mean, who ever talks about Mountain time? I do like living on the east coast now, though. It's very, very different than the southwest, but all the green is very soothing to my soul. Who knew?

Living in AZ means I change time zones every year without even moving. We don't do daylight savings so right now we are on Pacific. When it ends on Nov 3 we will be on Mountain.

When they say one bad apple spoils the barrel, they mean the whole barrel comes rotten. Also, on a site I used to read regularly but lost contact with there was the argument that police forces in America did not come about to solve crime but to beat up unruly peasants and they continue to do that today even as we kid ourselves that they are to protect "us." , the peasants of America.

Thirty-something years ago I was a bridesmaid in a wedding that took place on Lake Tahoe on a steamboat. Afterwards, we disembarked and posed for photos in what appears to be the same location as Spotts and Callyson were married! Wishing much love and happiness to the newlyweds, and to that other gorgeous couple "..runnin' around with the rag-top down...🎶

Direct to Queen Rebekah,

I was a HS and College debater and a paid debate judge and I tracked this debate carefully.

Tim Walz won.

He won points on substance, delivery and hitting Vance twice hard- on Abortion and Healthcare and getting a painful uppercut in at the Bell on Insurrection. The most memorable things here are Vance's non response to 2020 Election denial :

Walz: "Look, when Mike Pence made that decision to certify the election, that's why Mike Pence isn't on this stage.. America, I think you’ve got a really clear choice on who’s going to honor Democracy and who’s going to honor Donald Trump"]

Winner.

Vance came off more normal and Tim was not into throwing anvils to him and more focused on talking about Harris's good policy suggestions.

IMO Walz could have defended Harris against some of the "she's been in office 3 1/2 years so why no progress?" questions two ways- he could have deflected with Trump's failure and how deep we had to dig ourselves out and Republicans complete failure to work with Dems, or he could have said "You know Veeps don't have that kind of power, JD?"...

I believe that Walz's marching orders were to be Tim Walz. Harris feels she can defend herself.

Net result will be Vance picking up his underwater favorables, but still underwater and he will squander this goodwill in a couple of weeks with some other dumb thing he does or said.

So a pretty good debate for Harris/ Walz overall.

From HuffPost: "Donald Trump on Monday suggested “transgender” is the principal subject now taught in schools. He had a sympathetic ear in Fox Nation host Kellyanne Conway, his former adviser who introduced the world to the concept of “alternative facts.”

“We want reading, writing and arithmetic,” Trump said in a conversation about his plans for education reform if he wins the election next month. “Right now, you have mostly transgender. Everything’s transgender.”"
