One does wonder about the efficacy of a fundraising pitch based on the premise "Everything is more expensive." Logically, that would discourage donations? Then again, it's addressed to the most gullible constituency on the planet.

Scott’s shifty email continues, “Biden has crippled our patriotic oil & gas industry and every American is paying the price.

I'm confused, Scott is worried about our patriotic oil and gas industry, which are making record profits, and yet in another article here at dear ol' Wonkette, Marjorie Taylor Greene is trying to cripple our patriotic butt plug industry.

Make up what side of capitalism you are on, GQP!

Well, Rick Scott may well be a scumbag but I'm gonna raise y'alls hackles by bitching about that Gallega dude in particular and the Democrats in general. In this "cycle" I donated $239 to John Fetterman (I'm from PA) and about another $600 to sundry others - the guys in OH, WI, GA and so-on. Most of them won. Yippee. I did get those entreaties to send donations that would be "split 50/50 between candidate "A" and Kirsten Gillebrand which I either ignored or, when feeling peckish, I'd reply to Kirsten and tell her to piss up a rope. Now, since Sinema announced her defection, I got an email from Gallega that said, roughly, "I'm thinking about running for Senate and just in case I do I need to know that you're gonna back me so send some money now to help me decide" and I replied by telling him to kiss my ass - I ain't sending nothing to some dude that can't even to decide whether he's gonna run or not. Now, I realize that these messages aren't really from the candidate, that they have a bunch of fresh-faced young folks who think it's oh-so-clever to come up with this "help me decide bullcrap" and that "I need you on my team" drivel but that doesn't make it any less infuriating. And I closed my message to Gallega by telling him that once he decides then I'll decide.

Republicans might want to avoid talking about power getting shut off right now. Domestic terrorists that are drawn to their Party are targeting power substations as a plan to stoke a civil war. The timing is poor unless the point is to run interference with relevant narratives in advance of them occurring.

Heat keeps you warm on those frigid 50-degree South Carolina nights.

To South Carolinians, 50 degrees counts as frigid. People in the Deep South think everyone north of the Mason-Dixon line travels by dogsled in the winter.

A friend's nephew was high up in HUD under Ben Carson. After the end of the Trump administration, he got a job in Tim Scott's office. I asked her if he was worried about getting a reputation in the Republican Party of being willing to work for Black people.
