Mark Z. has a dick? I know he has no balls at all. He’s still the same college kid who stole someone else’s idea! Left FB and Twitter years ago. Saved my mind!

This is some country fried bullshit. Go on BookFace and call some racist ass cracker a cracker and see how fast that post gets banned.

I am barely on Facebook, but I'm going to go there now and post the following:

Mark Zuckerberg sodomizes small farm animals. Prove me wrong.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

I'm still unclear. Are we now allowed to say terrible things about straight white men on Facebook?

Don't dox me bro's avatar

I literally just did that to Zuckerberg himself. I'll report back. I'm probably being banned as I'm typing this response to you.

So long as you claim it is your religious freedom I guess.

You still can't use the R word in my classroom though.

Righteous. Oh shit .. that's an R word, but not THE R word.

I heard there is fraudulent advertising results.

Ta, Evan. Zuckerberg can shove his new terms of service where the sun don't shine.

I live in Atlanta and was talking to a friend at breakfast today about regretting not visiting Carter's casket lying in repose at the Carter Center. She said she hadn't either but she'd heard mobs of Georgians showed up to say goodbye all night in freezing temps.

kmblue187's avatar

Trump says "Probably" when asked if Zuckerberg was responding to Trump's threats to put him jail "for life."

Was Trump's presser during Carter's procession to the Capitol, and was the timing deliberate?

If it was, it was.

I'm guessing anyone here tossing off "just write a letter" or "social media is all evil anyway" comments has never had to promote anything widely on a shoestring budget. Meta is a hot mess, overrun by bots and weird paid advertising lately, but when I was helping run a tiny theater company, we relied heavily on it to build, and stay in touch with, our audience.

There are lots of nonprofits using these mainstream social media platforms to reach potential audiences/supporters, and losing this as a option is going to be rough on them. Hopefully something less evil but just as popular will eventually rise...

How'd we do it before facebook?

I mean, I get how it helps people. But people used to do these things before it came along, so it seems to me all it did was make it a lot easier and more convenient

DogParent's avatar

Direct mail, posters, flyers, print ads. All the analog things still in use that don't have anything near the reach of social media. It's not just "easier," it lands in front of people who wouldn't see it otherwise, and we don't magically return to a pre-internet world just because these platforms have been enshittified by their greedy owners.

Good replacements are going to be needed.

It really is pathetic that the richest men in America are all falling over themselves to appease Trump and the maga base.

Jen's Taking Greenland's avatar

Or...this is what they themselves wanted

But you sure can’t say anything against the 🍊🐖

Can't wait to yell "FIRE!!" the next time I'm in a crowded theater.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

As long as you say it is your sincerely held religious belief that there’s fire.

I haven't been on FB since 2015 or 2016. I should probably just go ahead and delete my account. Or delete all of the content except for a status update or whatever saying "This place is a cesspool. If you want me, I'll be at whatever at bluesky. Fuck Zuck."

Vincent's avatar

Just delete the account.

Mike Zinklebutt?

The guy who died of syphilis this morning?

Tessie's avatar

There's "obeying in advance", and then there's "elbowing each other out of the way to see who can obey the most in advance".

Vichy France had nothing on these fucking collaborators

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

Remember, these billionaires have a lot more to lose than the rest of us.

Don't dox me bro's avatar

Perhaps we should mob up and take it. It's ours anyway. We created that wealth with our labor

simpledinosaur's avatar

Someone with as much money as Zuckerberg COULD resist the urge to cave when prospectively confronted with a fascist scumbag and his administration. But then, the more you have, the more you have to lose, I suppose. The data are coming in now on how the "movers and shakers" are going to respond if and when Trump makes his play to become a full-on fascist dictator, and the data aren't encouraging.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

I don’t think it’s based on fear. They’ve realized that this is the secret sauce if want favors from a Trump White House: constantly kiss his ass and pay up front. These tech bros all want something from the government, even if it’s just immunity from pesky labor laws, and this is how they’re going to get it. When you have a “president” who is petty and purely transactional, you have to play the game his way.

simpledinosaur's avatar

It's fear, too. They know perfectly well how badly things can go if they "do the wrong thing." Trump seems entirely transactional in his approach: say and do the right things and today you're my best friend; say or do the wrong thing, and you're in trouble right away.

Biff52 vrag naroda's avatar

Also, the more you have, the more you want. There's never enough for people like that.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

At that level of wealth, it's nothing more than a dick-measuring contest.

simpledinosaur's avatar

I recall watching Trump in a deposition video clip responding to a question about how much money he has. He said something like, "Well, it depends on how I feel on that particular day." It must be nice to have way more money on days when you're in a good mood.

Fact checking in FB was ALWAYS biased trash.

I got sent to the corner for sharing a CARTOON about covid -- like, yes, I know it is a virus and not *actually* the shark from "Jaws".

Meanwhile, I reported some troglodyte who replied to one of my comments by saying I should have a famous body part "sewn shut", and was told that did not violate their rules.

`

All that having been said, this is part of a "saying the quiet part loud" trend that I am not in favor of.

thephantomcheese's avatar

I got banned off FB for life because I dared to join the "Survivors of Religious Trauma" group. Acknowledging that religion traumatizes people violates the narrative, don't you know?

Don't dox me bro's avatar

I got banned for a month for calling a cracker a cracker
