I'm always pro-union except whenever I hear about police unions I'm always against them. Why are they so self-righteous? Why are they so awful? They're not like a union at all, when you hear what they're saying. They're like owners of a mine or something. Or corporate bosses in some way. I guess because they're enemies are the little guys.? Sometimes its the city I suppose but I don't hear about those fights. I guess. God theyre awful. Oakland for example!!!

But you were taught rules of engagement and were subject to the LOAC. Cops know they don't answer to any laws.

They're formed, I'll give them that, don't know about the well part.As far as the militia goes, they're stretching the original meaning beyond any semblance of it's former self.

And btw, the killer cop Betty Shelby person is the worst of the worst.

IF there was such a thing as decent Legal Aid the understanding would seep into policemen's brain that society does care about everybody. And so would the understanding in the conservative/policeman mind that nah-- it's not okay to shoot these guys.

I begged her to schedule Tulsa in when they did the trip to D.C., but no dice. No reason we can't get together, though, I'm at our house in Maine now, will be back in T-town late-September, if you wanna have a drink just let me know (pretty sure there's at least one other Tulsan posting here). shoot me an email via my name at the googles.

True that. I'm waiting for one of Rebecca's caravans of Wonkette get-togethers to get remotely close to Oklahoma. So far, there hasn't been one in driving distance.

Just military. But I understand combat and combat training, and training in general. I have seen what piss poor training and failure to enforce the standards does. I have seen what happens when the leadership of a unit allows it;s people to run amok. I have seen what no real accountability does. All those are things that are clearly happening here.

It is deeply entrenched. It can be fixed. But it will take time, money, effort, and going up against police unions. People will lose jobs and pensions. Reform is never easy and it's never going to be popular with the ones being reformed.

Oh, yes, he was white. It was 1984 in rural Missouri and I think all our deputies were white then. He did the typical male power ploy when he came on to me - came up behind me when I was sitting at a desk typing, alone in a small office, leaned over me and put both arms on the desk on either side of the typewriter and kissed the back of my neck. You are pretty powerless in that position, big strong muscular guy leaning over you, you aren't expecting it, trapped under the desk. I had barely exchanged 5 sentences with him before. Did I mention his wife was 6 months pregnant, sitting in a room 50 feet away? I just said "Get out of this room now or I'll scream" and he silently went away. Fucking piece of useless shit. I had no idea what to do about it, my boss was the the Devil Incarnate and would never have believed me.

I'm also in Tulsa (most of the time), maybe we should plan a local Wonketeer meet-up?
