Remember, Trump won the popular vote. Don't lie to yourself and say they didn't know he is such a monster. There's so much hatred and rage in America that Trump still has an approval rating of 45%. He will let Abrego Garcia and tens of thousands of other people die in his concentration camps, and tens of thousands of children die because of lack of adequate food and medical care.

America is becoming reviled around the world, and it is richly deserved.

I just hope, and offer prayers to the Universe, that those in this Trump-fascist-Nazi regime who have imposed so much suffering on so many innocent people are held accountable and their punishment is commensurate with their crimes. Long, slow, and painful would be best, but I'll settle for imprisonment for the rest of their lives. Maybe somewhere scenic, though, Maybe somewhere in the Florida Everglades.

I'll bet the MAGA scum really "get off"on reading about Garcia being tortured. A bunch of sick sadistic bastards.

I knew it was gonna be bad. I read this yesterday and just couldn't. This poor guy, and all the other ones we sent there, are tortured constantly for doing nothing wrong. This is how Trump wants everyone who is not white to be treated. And everyone's just letting them! The Supreme Court OK'd this! Everyone in the Trump Admin is a human rights violator who needs to spend the rest of their lives in prison. Preferably, this fucking prison in El Salvador.

I have come to the conclusion that the allure of Trump and the "MAGA " movement is very similar to that of a potent addictive drug. "Trumpies" are addicts, and a pitiful lot. Just like any other "junkies" the root causes for their dependency varies greatly, and direct adversarial confrontation is never successful. We all need to get personal about this. if you know a Trumpy find some way to reach him/her and help them get "clean" It's challenging and every bit as difficult as helping someone kick heroin, but it can be done, but in the end, well worth the effort Independence Day is a perfect time to "Save a Trumpy

After years of grappling with the appeal of Donald Trump, I still have no good answer. There is no logical reason why anyone should like this guy. The best i have come up with is it's just the most colossal snow job in history. The "real" Donald Trump is still largely unknown. the voting public was presented with a fictional person based loosely upon a character from a TV game show. The ultra-successful, brilliant billionaire businessman persona is a total fantasy. No more true than Larry Hagman was an oil tycoon. Sadly, too many Americans remain so ill informed as to be able to discern fact from fantasy.

It is the exact behaviour of the powerless gaining power. You see the same thing in recent converts, regardless of the real idea they converted to. New members of a cult worshipping Seth, or a new Christian, or someone who recently quit smoking, it doesn't matter. They will use their newfound sense of moral superiority and authority to beat down everyone around them loudly and aggressively.

So what is it that made them feel so powerless?

Larry Hagman having a genie in a bottle is still more believable than trump being an ultra-successful billionaire businessman.

If any president before trump, possibly including republican ones did the evil, cruel shit that trump does they would be calling for impeachment or maybe even removal under Article 25 Section 4 with no pushback from his own party. But with trump they’ve decided that maybe we should give it a try again to be ruled by a king. In this case it’s a mad, incompetent, narcissistic psychopath with delusions of grandeur, who can’t put a complete sentence together who shits out of his anus mouth to let us all know what a complete moron he is. Might be time for another revolutionary war. Next summer will be 250 years of being led by an elected president who actually takes his oath of office seriously.

the country has been moving forward to this moment for over the past 40 years since Reagan and the GOP started merging with the Christian right.....and here we finally are...the Executive Branch with the SCOTUS fully enabling an imperial president to take full control of all the branches of government.....aided by the mega billionaire donors....so now they have all the power, money and control of who gets elected and to use the rest of us as surfs to toil for them so they can maintain their wealth and power.....this is just the beginning of tRUMPS (BUB) which puts billions of dollars into ICE, effectively making it the largest police force (of brown shirt, jackboot Nazi) in our country..... put a glass of water in a microwave, over heat it and see what happens..... it's coming to that.

For the first time in my life I am not celebrating July 4th. Democracy being beaten and strangled is not cured by fireworks, and platitudes about our so-called, rapidly disappearing, freedom. Approaching our 250th anniversary of our revolt from Britain, I can only envision a 2nd revolt against the tyranny of this regime. That will be a true celebration. A repeat of maga Jan. 6th acts by liberal activists, minus the police bashing, during the voting of this horrible bill would have been sweet, except the felonpotus would have ordered all the protesters murdered. So no pardons by a future president. I am at a loss how the US will ever become a democratic republic again.

Next to Christmas, which I did not celebrate this past year, the 4th has been my happy holiday. I love my country. Even through the horrific slaughter of Vietnamese people and their country, and Laos and Cambodia, I thought we could stand up and learn from our mistakes.

But we didn't and haven't.

We have fucked ourselves and we have only ourselves to blame.

They are exactly that

Nothing but id - with oppositional defiance disorder

The thing is -- and I'll keep saying it -- they only have the freedom to operate this way within the permission structure that passive White people who keep looking away up till now have given them BY looking away and not telling them, verbally, or by votes, or otherwise -- collectively -- "this is unacceptable behavior if you wish to remain an unostracized part of this society and you will not do this".

They were not prosecuted to the fullest extent. Never shunned.

White people remained silent at their worst atrocities. They were explained away. There were endless arguments that they shouldn't be punished because "bright futures would be ruined".

Not only is this what happens when lesser transgressions are ignored?

But everyone was warned. Over and over.

I'll remind you that a white prosecutor and team were aggressively prosecuting him for crimes that would have put him behind bars. It was a woman of Colombian extraction who stopped that.

There's blame for everyone who actively aided him as well as those who didn't pay attention.

That's because the number of Black prosecutors or any other federal prosecutors at that level of color is less than 1% of the population of prosecutors at the DOJ

You really thought this was the time for yet another da capo verse of #NotAllWhitePeople?

Have you ever given any thought to why the FBI has so much “trouble" catching white nationalist domestic terrorists?

One reason is because they don't want to put their brothers and cousins in jail.

Another is because they refuse to hire anyone who looks like those terrorists’ targets.

Look, there are good people on both sides, there's no need for conflict between camp "all problems are whitey's fault, so I don't have to do anything" and camp "It wasn't me personally, so I don't have to do anything", you both agree that you personally should not to take action, so find your common ground and do nothing together.

More terrifying ... and much less reported in the US ... is that CECOT is also being used as a political prison, the much reported drop in crime in El Salvador (the rationale for the draconian "state of exception") being more a smokescreen for a deal between Bukele's government and the very gangs supposedly targeted with these harsh measures. Those dangerous types like journalists, environmentalists, human rights lawyers, as well as foreign "guests".
