I have a cat house guest for a couple of weeks. Tater is freaked out, so they have to occupy exclusive areas of the house. I wish they would learn to live in peace like the critters you showed.
Cat are... complicated. We have five now, but we did a very gradual introduction to get everybody comfortable with new house members and the new members comfortable with their new surroundings. And even with all that, small Rita is pretty grumpy about all of her siblings. Good luck for the week!
Speaking of tabby kittehs, I hadn't seen neighborcat in forever and a day and had feared the worst. Thankfully, said cat was on dawn patrol in my backyard at 6:45 and all is once again right with the world. Not even Monday can fuck that up.
I'm reading your Wonkette link, Robyn, and saw this:
"When the United Farm Workers union replied in a comment that βprotection from the sun is absolutely a working-class issueβ, the Rhode Island DSA shot back: βEven if this is a workplace safety issue, her analysis is not socialist, but soccer-mom consumerism, complete with her βbrand ownerβ partner.β The DSA chapter also reposted a meme by the leftwing podcast Due Dissidence that said anyone who wasnβt βtriggeredβ by AOCβs sunscreen videowas βnot a leftistβ."
I'm like... I'm sorry, what the actual fuck are you talking about you assholes? It ABSOLUTELY IS a working-class issue (A lot of working-class work is outdoor work whodathunk) and what the fuck are you fuckers on about being triggered? Fucking *assholes*.
Considering that Jimmy Buffet died from merkel cell carcinoma gone berserk (which one gets from sun exposure along with other skin cancers) the outrage over AOC promoting sunscreen is fricking ridiculous. I donβt understand peopleβs need to jump on her for every utterance.
Clearly, I could go down a whole rabbithole with that Food is Stupid blog - thanks, Trix and Dennis! It pairs well with McMansionHell.com, which I also discovered through our Morning Tabs.
I read that article on how to keep your fridge clean and organized, and it was just a few steps.
First every time you go grocery shopping clean your fridge(LOL, no), eat the leftovers(of course!), give away food you don't eat(not realistic, not many people want your old food unless it's packaged, shelf stable, then maybe a community fridge type of place can take it.) And finally buy less(DUH.)
Here's a bonus to being single, a half empty fridge. Even though I have to spend more to buy less!(single or small packages of stuff tends to be more expensive.)
I was going to non-comment about food waste, but Donna Rose's eye roll captured on camera is too good to ignore. How old is she now? The best is yet to come.
Oh my! As a fan of spiral bound church-lady cookbooks, I had to click over to the Frosted Salad recipe. Giggled my way through reading it to the GF, and have added it to my substack "subscribed" list. This is the kind of recipe blog I'm here for!!!
I couldn't love my job more, but man, I'm tired! I'm on call this week and also have certain thing on my docket that mean I had to go to the office for 3 hours each day over the weekend, plus I have to be there at 6 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday...
Big week, and it is nice being tired at 7 pm, but it's crazy. Plus for the first time in forever it's rainy and now I just want to sleep all day!
On call was what started really busting my butt. Getting pages at 3am because Amazon just tripped their own Denial of Service alarm by doing penetration testing ... and there's no way to turn that alarm off, because it's "AI". That got old. Real old.
Critics of renewable energy have always treated its limitations as if they were unsolvable even as we continue to make progress solving them. At the same time, they ignore the biggest limitation of fossils: they are finite. Itβs only a question of when, not if, they run out. Even if you donβt believe in global warming, it only makes to lay the groundwork for the inevitable time when fossil fuels run out.
I came across a dumbass pro-nukes guy yesterday trying to use nuclear energy as a wedge between environmentalists and climate activists. I just asked, why should we use nukes when renewables are cheaper, more plentiful and more reliable. He hated me. It felt good!
That guy also thinks we can snap our fingers and install many MWh of nuclear power. Not even in decades could we commission a meaningful amount of nuclear power generation in the US.
How cute is your hed gif?! Plenty cute! It's sourced from the YouTube channel Buddy and there is a link to the video and channel here: https://open.substack.com/pub/martiniambassador/p/buddies-for-life

We have the perfect life here, and everybody is happy.
So of course we're probably going to get another cat. Because reasons.
Because a new cat would make life perfect-er.
We are hoping so, especially for Newcat who has been in shelter for at least six months.
Thanks!
Love this Tabs gif - cuteness overload!
It is the cutest, thatβs how cute
Super sweet!
Dogs and cats, living together!
Whatever next? Water turning to blood and plagues of locusts, that's what.
Goldies are the most bestest!
Iβve always said that.
I love them all. I lean towards the terrier breeds but thereβs something about a Golden π₯°

Yay! Glad neighborhood tabby is ok!
Love that shirt! Shy representing!!

I'm totally on a jag with it right now!

EIGHT.
WHAAAAT????
Only eight? Phew! Okay, you have some time to enjoy yet. Teach her everything she needs to know by the time she's twelve. Just saying.

They are the best! And the worst! Everything everywhere all at once!

Just bought Maria Bamford's book at my local bookstore, can recommend,
Also, support your local bookstore, also too!
Thanks for reminder to buy Maria's book through your link- got it ordered to arrive in time for my birthday!
OT - just watched a great interview with Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, link below. He called Tuberville a "dirtbag", which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I'll never get over Randy Rainbow referring to him as "Colonel Vitameatavegamin".
