Absolutely nothing about trans rights, protecting trans children, or trans adults who have become refugees in the United States. Even Biden said "trans rights" when he got elected in 2020. Modern Dems are running scared from the issue, throwing trans folk under the bus.
Did you even watch the Walz speech? Because he absolutely did talk about trans rights, multiple times. And as Governor of Minnesota, he signed a bill protecting gender affirming treatments for trans youth. He also praised the Biden-Harris administration for rescinding TFG’s stupid order prohibiting trans people from serving in the military.
I just fundamentally don't understand why some people have a problem with reality.
(I guess the real problem is, you could read that sentence from either perspective.)
I just fundamentally don't understand why some people think their reality is the only one that exists, think it's objective, and feel the need to be stupid about it and force others to agree.
They argue non-hetero relationships are a choice, a perverted choice. That people are choosing a “gay lifestyle” just for the hell of it. They ignore science; they ignore common sense that no one would “choose a lifestyle” that discriminates and gets them killed. It’s just self-righteous bullshit among those who are hiding their own deep dark secrets
Because they think their reality is the only one that exists. They don't see LGBTQ+ as equal members of society. If they did, then their moral superiority would crumble. That moral superiority is deeply ingrained in their identity. It's just tribalism turned up to 11. That's why they are hell bent on reversing marriage equality, stopping books that show LGBTQ+ in a positive light, etc.
This exactly. There's also the little problem that, if other realities are allowed to exist, that opens up the terrifying possibility that theirs isn't the One True Right and Only Reality (TM). And these are people who have *everything* riding on them being correct, about everything, all the time. Easiest way to ensure that is by being the only game in town, which is why they put so much energy into keeping everyone else off the playing field.
I can't cite a source. That was the word I heard from some people in the community, that's why I'm asking now. Do you have information?
ETA: a quick search indicates that HRC is vocally supportive of the trans community and I saw nothing on the first page of results that hinted at any other rep. If they were anti-trans before, they don't appear to be now.
Exactly. "word I heard from some people in the community" is roughly akin to "full of shit". You asserted it without evidence, and I'm dismissing it without argument. Have a nice day.
Wow, and fuck you too. I was asking because I thought someone more in the know could inform me but you gotta bring the insults. I bet you're a riot at parties.
People did inform you. "That was the word I heard from some people". Am I misquoting you? You may be full of shit, I don't know, but repeating random stuff that 'some people' 'said they heard'? That's bullshit.
Only by repeating "the word from some people" makes you full of shit. Hopefully the rest of you isn't, and by expectorating this you have exorcised it. Thank you.
This is so OT to the conversation but are there a better two songs than Mellencamp's "Pink Houses" and "Small Town" for really capturing what life is like in small American towns before the internet, apart from Bruce Springsteen? Some of those lines just hit you so right. "Suckin' on a chili dog/outside the Tastee Freeze" gets me every single time.
"We show up". Yes! 🎶🤗😸💙🌊🇺🇲
Ta, Dominic. What a perfectly fabulous audience. Thanks for the photos and text.
ah dana goldberg.
Here’s the moment he talked about starting marriages. It’s in the prop 8 documentary! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J93691asilw

I usually tune out political oratory, even when I agree with it. But I sat through that whole speech. DAMN that guy can bring it.

That's better.

I meant the evil assholes are self-righteous, etc. Not the LBGTQ community and their allies

So not all that long ago, HRC had a rep as being anti-trans (which, boggle), anyone willing to weigh in on their current position?
Who wrote that rep?
I can't cite a source. That was the word I heard from some people in the community, that's why I'm asking now. Do you have information?

my giant gay heart is shaking crying throwing up
our future VP can wear a suit!
hooray for good tailoring, ffs!
It's weird (and depressing) how the party of "small government" has become the party of Big Brother.
Isn't this dangerous? Tim Walz might catch the ghey there!
I certainly did.
❤️How Absolutely Fabulous!

I nominate "My Little Town" by Simon and Garfunkel.
"Nothin' but the dead and dying back in my little town..."
Maybe Drive-By Truckers? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF4WuA85nf0
Love Walz so much. He really gets it.
