People want to honor the Hong Kong protesters but no one wants to emulate them. THEY have the guts to take to the street even though they are facing one of the most brutal regimes in the world. For 6 MONTHS they have persisted in the fight for freedom. Americans can't get off their asses or put down their stupid phones for one minute to prevent the dictatorial takeover of the USA.
Oh yes, let's honor the brave people, but whatever you do don't be like them.
I ended up in a Twitter war with some fool of a Dominionist who tied himself in knots defending the President's conduct, to the point of arguing that Trump's behavior was fine because the Church doesn't teach against bullying. I showed him this: https://catholicherald.co.u...and he said that the pope calling bullying the Devil's work...doesn't count. I'm now using this as my new "No True Scotsman" fallacy example for my students and residents. So... a win!
I think about this almost every day. "Why am I not protesting this insanity?" And then I think "well, if i go out and sit in front of the state capitol in the rain and cold, will anyone join me? Will it make any difference? Will my life be dissected and scrutinized if I step into the public eye?" I guess I ultimately assume it won't make any difference. And it could also be laziness. I just don't know if my reticence is justified or a cop-out...
Of course, when Trump's son Barron gets attacked unfairly, he goes berserk. But it's okay for him to attack a teenager who justly and fairly receives high recognition from Time magazine. The real reason is that the Bloated Yam is mad as hell that HE didn't get named "Man of the Year, Decade, and Two Centuries."
The man's so proud of his views that he keeps his posting history proud. And I'm touched by "Siegfried von Richtofen" and his "Aryan avatar," and their deep concern for the future of the United Kingdom.
I keep saying, they have to scrape Harry Truman's DNA off of one of his hats in his library in Independence, Missouri, clone him, and run HIM for president....
I don't know if it's just you, but I'm not having that problem currently. It has happened in the past. I just kept logging in and at some point it went away, so I don't know how to fix it.
Sorry about your country. Sucks to be you.But sucks to be here also

Good luck. You are so going to need it.

Sad and true.
The UK is going to be interesting in the next couple years, but at least the Brexit whining will have some kind of conclusion.
I don't believe it. Source?

What was his response?

Which is astonishing when you consider she has Asperger's, which makes her the opposite of poise.
