Perkins insists that she wanted to be fired, rather than quit - and that's why he voted to ditch her. Because being fired looks good on one's resume, I guess.

The GOP's owners would have to officially throw Jeb? under the bus before they could beg Mittens to come bail them out of their misery. And I'm not sure a country-club multi-milionaire could steal teabagger hearts and minds (such as they are) away from a vulgar billionaire.

Either way, the notion that you can improve on the plutocracy by cutting out the middle man - electing the plutocrats themselves to office - is a fantastic piece of Republlican asshattery and teabagger stupidity. (Dems elected Roosevelts and Kennedys, but those families actually regarded public service as an honorable calling.)
