Oh for Pete's sake, of course Trump scheduled a fund raiser for Bannon's graduation day. Everyone with two brain cells said he would. The only surprise is that it is in MN and not somewhere closer to Mar a Lago.
Rick Scott in the courtroom to provide moral support to Trump in NY. These idiots are absolutely ridiculous! Big baby needs people to be there to make him feel good.
OT: Man finds out he's not a citizen despite moving here decades ago. "I moved to the US in 1959. I've been here for 64 years." BONUS: Trump sign on his front door in the background.
Like Elmer Fudd says, "There's something scwewy going on awound here."
<But after more than half a century in the U.S., where he’s lived, worked, gone to school, got married, had kids, paid his taxes, and even voted, Klass said in 2020 he discovered he’s not a U.S. citizen.>
So Donny told oil execs to give $1 billion to elect him and he’ll get rid of all those EPA rules and EV promotion that they don’t like. Remember when bribery used to be illegal? I mean this is straight-up quid pro quo, but it involves $peech so very legal, very cool.
Everyone who ever claimed to give a shit about the economy needs to read that quote.
Meanwhile, Biden's "all of the above" strategy has gotten us much farther with clean energy while also keeping energy costs low in a booming economy. Isn't this what everyone said they wanted? What lunatic would upend all of that to let a guy with a 19th Century view of the economy run the show?
OT, but I wanted to share this excellent link from Sam Seder's Majority Report which has a new take on why Biden's recent wins haven't been getting through:
Seder points out that even if Gaza isn't everyone's top priority, seeing your leadership indulging Israel's worst instincts for 7 months has a devastating impact on the morale of the rank and file Dem volunteer. Morale is often overlooked as a factor in politics, but like every battle, it does play a role. It's the difference between pushing a foot vs pushing a yard, holding out a few seconds more, going that extra mile and the Democrats do a really good job of demobilizing and demoralizing their base. Worse yet, it's obscuring the actual points that Biden--to his credit--has actually taken on entrenched moneyed interests, such as the natural gas project approval ban that Sam notes.
In short, it's more than just a bad media environment muddling the message. If the policies are alienating your foot soldiers, they're not going to go out of their way to support you.
It’s heart warming to see Free Palestine encampment dwellers making common cause with Itamar Ben-Gvir to agree that Biden sucks and work to get Trump back in there to make things better.
This is the best news of the week! (For me, personally.)
I dabble in political futures markets and have been sitting on almost 800 shares of Youngkin as VP nominee purchased at a penny a share six months ago! Payout would be at least 90 cents a share after fees.
Whatever you do, do not advertise to the public, they notoriously are insulted by advertising, it's why no one advertises products or candidates at all. We have to take the public as they are, and let the chips fall where they may.
There's a halfway decent point buried in there amongst the stupid: telling people the economy is great isn't going to be effective if two-thirds of the populace lives paycheck to paycheck.
That said, treating voters/viewers like children is how we get CNN-level (read: surface-level and dumbed-down) coverage in the news.
Not exactly: it's difficult to come by reliable statistics but the general consensus is that the number of people living paycheck to paycheck has been increasing for several years now.
Is that necessarily Biden's fault? I sincerely doubt it. But if you're going to base your reelection on the great economy (and have a voter base that actually cares about objective reality) then it shouldn't be surprising that the message will fall flat amongst a group that makes up the vast majority of the populace.
That's assuming that we would be allowed to have a paycheck. PaB is having the fossil fuel industry write their own regulations, so why not force the peasants to work/slave for their business overloads without paying them?
There are things people can reasonably disagree on like Jan 6, Trump’s trials, the election results, climate change…but Biden telling everyone the economy is good is objectively bad.
"You all are wealthy enough, he said, that you should raise $1 billion to return me to the White House. At the dinner, he vowed to immediately reverse dozens of President Biden’s environmental rules and policies and stop new ones from being enacted, according to people with knowledge of the meeting, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation.
Giving $1 billion would be a “deal,” Trump said, because of the taxation and regulation they would avoid thanks to him"
One of the things about a rice cooker is that if you have a rice cooker you don’t have to get instant rice anymore.
Ta, Erik. I always learn something new when I read your work. Solidarity Forever.
I always appreciate these informative posts; thanks again!
My grandfather did some prison time over the general strike. Union proud until his death in 1963.

The press noticed that nobody was showing up and it made Trump look rather loathsome, so now to curry favor, people have to start showing up.
Of course Prick Scott is in the house! After all Pricks love Dicks...even if they're the size of a tiny button mushroom...
Did he stop at TJ Maxx again to get Donny another “inaugural” award/silver-plated key dish?
This guy seems pretty important for someone who I have never heard of until now.

A PAB supporter? You KNOW he's been voter-frauding!

So, another non-Democrat voting illegally? Isn't it always.
Seems to be. I just don't know how you can go that long without showing a birth certificate for something.
My thought, too.
At least this one appears to have not known he was committing a crime.
1001 big red ❤️s for this article, Erik. I'd sooner cross a picket line as........ vote Republican, maybe?

Almost like trying to please the Israeli right was a waste of time.
It's also hard for any president to show what's really going on with respect to foreign relations.
7 months into this, I think we can guess.
Yeah--most diplomacy is confidential,, and the drips that come out suggest he's been pushing Israel towards de-escalation.
Meanwhile, no serious person can imagine Trump doing the same.
Future PM Ben-Gvir basically called Biden a Hamas member.

2/3 of the populace have always lived paycheck to paycheck. Neither Biden nor Trump is going to change that.
That’s a deeply ingrained flaw with capitalism itself.

weird deference to a fucking criminal rapist, but finger-wagging at the POTUS is the order of the day, clearly

By CNN
"I like being miserable, and don't you DARE try to tell me different!"
That’s funny. The media created the damned “Vibecession” and now they’re warning Biden not to set the record straight.

They will pony up the money thanks to Citizens United.
It's always been for sale ... they just never advertised it quite so blatantly.

He’ll pocket about 3/4 of that. Fucking entitled piece of shit.
Never mind that the stock market had a 30% plunge on his watch, and grew by 30% on Biden's.
...that's not how *any* of this works dot meme
If you're rich enough it is.
That is how it works thanks to the corrupted court, Citizens United AND The ACLU who all insist that money is free speech!
*frowns*
I don't remember the ACLU backing money == speech, but I might have missed that one.
the ACLU STILL supports Citizens United just as they supported Buckley v. Valejo which gutted the campaign finance reform act.
It will if WE let Turmp steal this election.
