OK, I know this sounds awful, but hear me out. You know what goes great with vodka? Welch's grape juice. I tried it once when I had nothing else to put vodka in and I was like, "TRULY! I HAVE CREATED A MASTERPIECE!"
Back in 1985 I was flabbergasted to learn that Wells had recorded a marketing pitch for the daily newspaper I worked for. Sure enough, he had, something about "news is the first draft of history."
the new Reading Rainbow episode is out. I thought I put it the morning thread, but I think I posted to last night's Happy Hour thread by mistake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHAIjSkmnYI
Any cranberry drink MUST have a good amount of fresh squeezed (or muddled) lime, in my humble opinion. I'm a gin girl myself, but tarting up vodka makes it much more appealing when I'm out of gin. Gin is, afterall, essentially an infused vodka.
I don't usually keep much vodka around because it was my dad's favorite. And there’s a lot of bad memories surrounding it. But I do have some nice bourbon from Chattanooga, and today I'm going to indulge. I have a lot of unpacking and boxes to get through, and I need a little help mentally. My son is struggling to find/keep a job and I feel like an absolute failure as a parent. I know it'll pass, but it just really hurts right now.
Janis Joplin, Down on Me. I heard the live version just about every time it came on. I heard the studio version a few months ago (and on my drive this week) which I hear clearly as…
“Looks like everybody in this whole round world, they’re down on me” which I always heard as…
“There’s lipstick on my body and this whole round world”
I’ll hear that next time it’s on. Also, I used to hear “I miss the rains” instead of “I bless the rains” in Toto’s Africa. I make my coworker laugh by singing “I puked my brains out in Africa”.
Ta, Robyn. It's a beautiful day in the Catskills; brilliant sunshine pouring into the pied-à-nuage and 66º F that feels like 71º, which will be today's high temperature. We're having our tea and darling husband Meccalopolis is lighting the pilot on the water heater so the dishes can be washed. Good day, beloved Wonketteers. I love and appreciate you all and I bless us all with love, health, peace, and grace.
Please, please stay safe. Wear a mask or two, wash your hands, sanitize when you cannot wash and let the sanitizer dry completely, stop touching your face, take Vitamin D, get a booster shot six months after your last (my honey got his, along with the flu shot), and catch up on any other vaccinations you need, avoid indoor and crowded outdoor gatherings and when you must meet, remove masks only to eat, drink, and take quick photos, and stay the fuck away from me and everyone with whom you do not share a roof. Do this because you love yourself, and because I love you, too. Do this in memory of dear departed family and friends like Forever 27 Treg and heroic Tony, Holly's pilot friend, among nearly eight million dead worldwide. Do this to honor the nurses and other frontline medical personnel (we love and appreciate you, Medicos of Wonkette), particularly ICU Hera Mrs Land Shark RN. Be kind, especially to yourself, and please stay safe.

PBS response to the Tylenol causes autism discussion. Majority of the cases are linked to genetics. Sometimes inhereted from parents with autism and sometimes random gene mutations (predominantly from sperm).
But they have to find an outside source to blame it on. There can't possibly be anything wrong with their genes! (The people who keep trying to insist on finding environmental causes for ASD at all costs; it seems like a real pathology in some cases).
Once I learned more myself and how I process things, made it much easier to pick that up about plenty of relatives.
Watching some things play out with my 17 y/o niece and they just say she's "different". We've been around forever, people just called us different names
Bibi's Israeli "government" is detaining Greta Thunberg
But nobody is reporting on it yet except Zeteo
And they won't be able to do that until tomorrow 😒

The fact that there is no National Grappa day is all the proof I need that this
Country doesn't respect Italians.
We’ll just have to declare our own.
In the USA, every day is Vodka Day! USA! USA!

Eeeep!
Ooh! Love the pic! I was raised by basset hounds!
Vodka and Buster Keaton? What a day! Also, Smol wishes you a happy Caturday!

Mycal the Librarian is no Levar Burton but I'm glad the series is back!

Longer outtakes - TOTALLY worth it for when Orson plops a chicken onto the table that he's wearing on his right hand.
I did not know it was National Vodka Day, yet fortunately for me I'm out of gin. Guess that's what it's going to be! (Even have soda and cranberry!)

A splash of unsweetened tart cherry juice and a bit of lime is also nice.
I’m not a fan of the taste of cherries (I know, I know.. don’t throw rotten cherries at me!), but that makes sense to me.

Salud, I guess? 😮💨
self care helps us care for others. Hang in there, Thalia.
Thanks, honey. I'm starting to feel better.
Slanj, shipmate, this isn’t on you.
Thank you.
Another installment of misheard lyrics….
Janis Joplin, Down on Me. I heard the live version just about every time it came on. I heard the studio version a few months ago (and on my drive this week) which I hear clearly as…
“Looks like everybody in this whole round world, they’re down on me” which I always heard as…
“There’s lipstick on my body and this whole round world”
who remembers elton john’s ‘’don’t let your son go down on me’’…
Creedence Clearwater Revival helpfully directed us with "There's a Bathroom on the Right".
I just also remembered: "Pico, Chad and Eliza! Don't carry me too far away...."
“Big ol’ Jerrolina” - 3 yo sister of Prickly
I’ll hear that next time it’s on. Also, I used to hear “I miss the rains” instead of “I bless the rains” in Toto’s Africa. I make my coworker laugh by singing “I puked my brains out in Africa”.
There’s nothing that a hundred men on Mars could ever do…
LOL!!!!!!!

Stay safe Zyx and Mecca.
We shall. Stay safe as well, SoB.
Wildo, just riding out the last of Storm Amy and heading back to Edinburgh tomorrow.
Pasta bake and a bottle of Sainsbury’s own label Rioja are in my immediate future.

"Predominantly from Sperm" would be a good band name, but I ain't claiming it...
Truth in advertising.
Hmm . . .

A F2M transgender rock band?
Prog-rock band with a clone front man.
Or Kraftwerk-type electronica with an AI frontman.
There ya go.

Yep. ASD is just human evolution in action.
I'm stealing that last line, thank you!
