The bill, called the “Measures Against Marxism’s Dangerous Adherents and Noxious Islamists,” or MAMDANI, Act, is a reference to socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is also a Ugandan immigrant.
The proposed bill specifically moves to enable deportation and denaturalization for immigrants with “any membership, affiliation, or advocacy of socialist, communist, Chinese communist, Marxist, or Islamic fundamentalist doctrines,” amending the Immigration and Nationality Act to do so.
Went out this morning to see if I could see the Black-chinned Hummingbirds that had been reported at a trail quite near my home. Our most common hummingbird by far is Anna's Hummingbird, but the Black-chinned ones also are here and breed in this area. Got there and found another birder out with a big telephoto lens. He pointed me to the top of a dead tree, and sure enough, there was a male Black-chinned sitting right up there. He said a female had been sighted there too, but was not now visible. This is not a world life list first for me: I'd seen them before in Arizona. But this is my first time seeing one in California.
Saw rumors of this on social media earlier today; now it's official and breaking in the mainstream media. Drinking on the job and an affair with a staffer? So sorta a combination of Whiskey Pete/Kash Patel and Kristi Noem.
I'm beginning to really wonder if JD (and/or Thiel) are encouraging all these leaks to get it down to a cabinet that would 25th Trump.

She scored the endorsement of the AFL-CIO over the weekend, which is a helluva nice get. I will knock on doors, deliver yard signs, etc. for Gonzales, but Hick's got way too much money and name recognition to overcome here. After a successful business run, he served two terms as Mayor of Denver and two terms as Governor of Colorado, with high approval in both jobs. He's now shooting for a second term in the U.S. Senate.
The good news is that, unlike some other states, this Dem Senate seat is not at risk. The only GOP candidate on that party's primary ballot is Mark Baisley, a vacuous lightweight whose biggest "asset" seems to be a hearty endorsement from Lauren Boebert.
