Thank you for the information. That's a pity. Even if you couldn't have put in a candidate, you could have loudly expressed displeasure. Of course you still can by leaving that election blank, but that can slip past notice.

Why the pessimism?

I'm not being pessimistic. I'm telling it like it is.

Btw, I'm a conservative. It's been time for the Republicans to be the dominant party in AR. After 140+ yrs, the Dems are no more in this state.

I had friend from work many years ago whose father was Japanese and her mother of Polish descent, so her last name was Japanese. She ended up going out with a white guy from the boonies. One night they went out to a Chinese restaurant and he asked her if this was the type of food she ate at home. She dropped him in a second.

They could also go with another old Washington name - the Bullets

Alternate, much ruder, joke that requires one knows they play in a town in Maryland...

Did you hear the Washington team finally came up with their new name?...the Landover Redskins.

"So there's a lesson to minority candidates and parties: If you have something in your background that would kill your chances if it comes out, better to assume it will come out..."

Sensible and correct.

"... and don't run in the first place."

FUCK OFF. Maybe you think it's good politics to concede the race in advance because no-one's perfect, but that looks like not only defeatism to me, but defeatism that particularly targets minorities, which is a whole 'nuther kettle of problematic.

If the lesson is that minorities shouldn't even TRY to run in elections unless they're Literally Jesus, then the next lesson is: just go straight to the rioting and insurgency because elections mean nothing to you.

Don't give them any ideas. They'll BUILD THE WALL along the Mason-Dixon line and call it the "anti-ANTIFA protection barrier"

My point was that it makes more sense to clear the way for other candidates, rather than to suck up the available oxygen if you have something so bad in your past that you'd literally drop out after two hours if it came out.

This would be a judgement call of the candidate, anyway. If somebody isn't afraid of X becoming public, then they would be free to run, nothing stopping them. If they would pay blackmail money to prevent its exposure, then maybe they could consider another line of political work.
