That pic up top? For the first time, I realized he looks like a stupid Bill Maher.

i mean. we could have had doug jones.

also and too fuck off alabama.

Zap's avatar

It's not Alabama's fault. It's republican voters that cause this bullshit.

John Vreeland's avatar

He convinced some idiots that he will do stupid, feckless things to support their cause. This probably means he will be re-nominated.

Ta, Evan. Alabama sent is worst to the Senate.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

I hope the voters of Alabama are proud of this dipshit.

No doubt many of them are

Fuuny how the very second Schumer announced he was going to hold the senate until the promotions were approved it took like 10 minutes. Why the f*** didn't he do this ten months ago fer chrissakes!

Denying senators their Christmas vacation is a powerful motivator.

Tuberville folding like a common Ole Miss.

Assholes like this never learn. He had his name in newspapers and on television almost daily for almost a year ,with what he thinks is a righteous message. Even if 99% of the public thinks he was being an ass, he will always think he was standing up for his god, the only real.god. And since he really didn't receive any punishment since the rubes in Alabama would reflect him today if it was election day, and all of the members of whatever passes for a Christian church near his home IN FLORIDA will be praising him for standing up against them baby killers in the military. Ignoring the threat to national security it presented. So as far as his warped mind is concerned, he won.

The policy that this moron wasted a year of our lives “protesting” remained in place during his “protest”. Dumbass.

I know (in general) why Tuberville placed a hold on military confirmations, but why did he stop? Just because the rest of the Senate was going to do an end run around him? So what? He could have done a "Lost Cause" type of thing around it and the MAGAts he caters to would be holding parades in his honor.

Birb-General of the US's avatar

I don't think he's playing any dimension of chess, and that move is not part of checkers.

The G-7 Experience's avatar

He's playing bad Snakes and Ladders....

clairence's avatar

"I stood up for my principles" - pretty sure that's what he got. Maybe he just knew right away that it wasn't going to get him anything, so he just let it ride to make it look like he was trying.

SterWonk's avatar

As stupid and ridiculous as Tuberville is, he has been a proof-of-concept for a new degree of obstructionism. Expect to see more of it, from more people, on more subjects, in the coming years. Until and unless the Senate puts through rules changes.

OT

"Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer sued Lake last year for defamation for her accusations against him alleging that he intentionally committed fraud in her election which caused her to lose her election for Arizona Governor. She filed a Motion to Dismiss the case, and the motion was just denied by the trial court"

"The Court noted that the instances of Lake's statements about Richer alleging fraud were too numerous to mention in the Order, but he cited two particularly egregious examples of statements Lake made at her January 9, 2023 'Save Arizona Rally,' where she said:

"Richer and Gates intentionally printed the wrong image on the ballot on Election Day so those ballots would intentionally be spit out of the tabulators ... Well, these guys are really, really terrible at running elections but I found out they're really good at lying."

Her second statement at the same event claimed that she had "whistleblowers" who claimed that 300,000 illegal ballots were counted in her race.

Lake's attorneys argued that her statements were not intentional lies made with malice, just "examples of imaginative expression or rhetorical hyperbole.""

i guess nothing is ever legally actionable now, since it's all just rhetoric and imaginative nonsense.

As if capable.

Hyperbole is not a get out of jail free card. Just STFU.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

It's a bit dense, word-wise, for the MAGAt crowd.

UVB-76's avatar

The kind of expression and hyperbole that gets your ass sued, girl.

Jen's Taking Greenland's avatar

I am wondering how on earth that is hyperbole.

Did she mean there was only 200 illegal ballots that they counted?
