I understand. But to say it's all nasty just isn't true. What's nasty is what SOME people make of the book. There's a very big difference between the two.

I've been suspended twice in the last month, for calling out these creeps. Are they ever suspended? Not a chance, they're $$$ for FB, I'm not.

Do to them what they do to Muslims: "Where are all the moderates who oppose [bad thing]?"

then the next step is us storming the churches and taking their tax exempt statuses away as well.

I fail to see the problem here, as I'm sure do most of Wonkette's readers and probably all of the staff and also a large portion of American citizens.

What Mr Perkins doesn't realize is that our political correctness and limiting of hate speech keeps people from making gay innuendos out loud and harassing him based on another man with the same name.Just saying he should be thanking us.

If they weren't worried about the Bible being interpreted as hate speech, they should have gone with the Lilith story instead of the Eve story.

That's largely the way it is here in Mexico, where Church and State separation is much stronger than in the US (and our constitution guarantees not just the right to religion, but the right to non-religion as well). Churches themselves are not taxed, and they cannot directly own other facilities.Non-profits church affiliated facilities like hospitals, schools, old age homes, etc. are legally separate organizations. Also, unless he or she is a blood relation, you cannot name a cleric in your will.

I like Paulo Cohelo's parable about Lenin... Satan and Peter argue over who gets him, having freed the Russians from the Czar, and dragged Russia out of the dark ages, etc. but ... anyway, Satan gets Lenin, who immediately convinces the demons to go on strike, calls for the tortured souls to throw off their chains, etc. etc. etc. Satan gots to Peter, and say's "I was wrong, you take him", so Lenin is popped off to Heaven. A few Millenia later, not having heard from Peter, Satan makes a vist, asks Peter how things are going. "FIne," says Peter. So Satan asks, "How is God treating Lenin", at which point, Peter says, "But, Comrade Satan, there is no God."

Which means that if we tax Scientology alone that will probably fix the deficit.
