Does it strike anyone else as odd that Nestle would choose to promote its chocolate products with an animal that should never have chocolate?

Yesterday I was picking something up in a shop and lo and behold, there were little bags of chocolate gelt, so I bought one. Mr S got exactly two coins and the rest somehow didn’t last for the walk home.

I just loved those little milk chocolate coins when I was short.

Truth to be told I'd still very much enjoy noshing my way through such choco change right now if it were available.

Thanks so much for the Civil Eats link, I did not know of them, and am looking forward to reading more. This wonderful story was originally published in The Bitter Southerner, a magazine I adored, but somehow forgot about when the NYTimes murdered the lovely Audm app.

A double treat for me, this tab is!

I have thoughts on the Texas case.

1. States should have no authority over the mail. The Constitution clearly puts the power to establish a postal service with the federal government. Only the federal government should be able to regulate what gets sent by mail.

2. The courts should tell Ken Paxton to go fuck himself since he has no authority over the actions of a doctor in New York.

3. I have zero doubt that if this case ends up before the Supreme Court, they will rule in Paxton’s favor.

"Let’s put the anti-weenie at the top of Oversight." Amen. Let's also think about whether it's time to abandon the whole fucking Democratic Party. This is an organization that has lost to Donald Trump TWICE. That should be the easiest election in the geological history of Earth to win. I don't want a progressive third party, I want to destroy the Democratic Party so something useful can rise in its place, just like Lincoln and the Republicans destroyed the Whigs in the 1850s. Step 1 is that no person who has ever worked for the DNC, DCCC, or DSCC wither directly or as a consultant must ever again be allowed to draw a paycheck from the Left.

About the propaganda war, I keep recommending the last chapter of "Mindf*ck: Inside Cambridge Analytica’s Plot to Break the World" by Christopher Wylie. Hell - read all of it :-)

Big political shakeup in Canada. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Crystia Freeland has resigned her posts. She says she will run in the next election. This comes the same day she was supposed to present the government's fall economic statement. In a resignation letter she stated that Justin Trudeau asked her Friday to take a new cabinet position, and that they had disagreements over economic policies.

Okay, this is annoying. There is a red "1" in the speech bubble at the top of my feed. I go there, see the various items, come back, and the red "1" is still there. This is going to drive me crazy. Make it go away!!!!

Ooof. Never mind. I figured out how to make it go away. Just keep pushing keys until something snaps, I guess.

Anyone remember when John Fetterman was a Democrat who practiced democratic values and had little time for the sycophants and buffoons who made up his republican colleagues?
