Hey, what I thought about this was that anyone at the DOJ could have given trump a clemency request and he would've signed it. But Bondi's henchmen do 2 things: a) they try to get her to take the responsibility and consequences for something clearly I'll advised. We can guess if Mel is a risk without knowing anything about it. And b) used this request to illicit a no giving them cause to push her out. She was screwed regardless of how she answered, but at least she can say she has her dignity and self-respect, and didn't do anything a reasonable person would wonder about for a minute in terms of her integrity.
