It's difficult for them as they see nothing but a future filled with this nonstop shit. Hard for them to find the joy when they have seen the possible realities ahead, but haven't had the time we had to see the beauty or potential. We have been much luckier than they have because we lived in times when the future looked much brighter.

His attorney, Andino Reynal, said Jones has a “medical issue” that his legal legal team advised him not to be there for jury selection. Reynal didn’t elaborate and said it’s “up in the air” whether Jones will be in court. Is it "candyass"? I'll bet it's candyass. That can be really debilitating in situations where you need to take responsibility.

I'm no conspiracy theory nut job but if somebody told me the ChiCom government was doing some fuckery at the bio lab there in Wuhan and something got out of control and they tried then and continue to try now to cover that up, now THAT i am prepared to believe.

Jones wrapping himself in the 1st amendment is the reason why we can't have nice things anymore.

Request to the author: please include some estimate how long we expect that trial to run. Will this be over in 5 days, or 5 months?

He showed up. Like all dumb wingnuts, he thinks his defamation cases brought against him by families of murdered children has something to do with the 1st Amendment. It doesn’t, as the government neither silenced him, nor punished him for his speech. He might know that, but this could be his only play, the only possible ploy to turn himself into the victim. He was admonished by the judge for crying about this “witch hunt,” and “kangaroo court,” to reporters in the hallway, when jurors walked by. That’s a big no-no. He’s a vile scumbag who has no soul, as nobody with a beating heart would promote lies about families of little kids who were shot to death. Those parents were denied the peace they needed to mourn their dead kids. They had to deal with this evil clown telling millions of people to hate them, because they are just crisis actors and their children didn’t exist. He didn’t have any reason to suspect that, outside the dark corners of wingnut chat rooms. He simply wanted to provoke. To sell vitamins and other crap to terrible people. He deserves to forfeit millions of income from those sales. I believe the jury will punish him, but who knows if his money ended up in some offshore account (that’s my guess - Switzerland, Grand Cayman, somewhere). I hope this follows him forever.

Every last penny, AND every penny he earns from here to eternity. And no, he can’t keep doing his “show” to make money; I would accept restroom attendant at the grottiest bus station in the dirtiest part of the grossest town, but it would really still be too good for him.

He’s screwed either way, if he shows up or not. Usually, we want our clients present at a jury trial. Jurors tend to frown on the parties being too busy to attend their own trial, while a jury of strangers is required to take days or weeks away from their own lives. But, if your client is as vile as Jones, how can his presence help? He isn’t capable of appearing calm, quiet, respectful, reserved, harmless. He’s a rage-junkie and an unhinged fool who will be convinced the jury thinks like he does. He probably believes the jury agrees with him that there are just too many unanswered questions about Sandy Hook, and isn’t the mass murder of elementary school kids just too tragic to be real? Isn’t it exactly what the gun-grabbers wanted to ban all the guns? It’s all just so suspicious. His attorney actually told the jury that last line, “on the day of the Sandy Hook shooting, Alex was 1500 miles away taking his own kids to school. Like everyone, he was horrified. But he was also suspicious.” Right, because he’s a repugnant, maggot-brained wingnut. Judgment for Plaintiffs in the amount of…a shitload.

I’ve only punched one person in the face one time in my life. He wasn’t as deserving or famous as Jones. He was actually our HS class valedictorian. But this was 2 years before graduation, when we were both 16. He was a petty, sneaky, jealous prick and bully who was my freshman debate partner. I loved debate, and I thrived and received an A. He was very capable, but not as comfortable at it. He deserved an A, but got an A-, his only grade below an A for all 4 years of HS. He held a grudge. The following year, in a pickup bball game, we became tangled up and pushing turned to swinging. He grazed my chin, which would have knocked me out had he connected fully. I landed one punch to his eye, which cut open and bled. He stopped and gave up in full view of 10-12 people, which must have humiliated him. He was also about 6’2, probably 160 lbs. I was 5’9, 135. So again, he lost to someone he felt was lesser than he. He sulked for weeks, but eventually he respected me after that, and never uttered a word about me again.

You probably were wise to not punch Jones. You said what needed to be said, but the fallout of punching him might have been bad. He’s got a following of some very bad people and militia groups you wouldn’t want knowing your name.
