The destruction of the New Deal continues apace. Sadly, I think it will probably take the complete removal of all social welfare and safety nets to coax American voters into voting for their economic interests again, instead of voting based on their hatred of out-groups. I guess we'll see, because Social Security and Medicare are definitely not long for this world.

Will call centers hire people in nursing homes? Maybe on a free volunteer basis?

Can the elderly do four hours a day gardening or cleaning at the nursing home?

How about a physical therapy assistant helping others walk around?

Care for the bed-bound dementia and Alzheimer's patients?

There must be lots of jobs they could do. Then the employees could be fired. The nursing home could make a better profit for the owner and shareholders.

This is effectively cold blooded MURDER.

I HATE this sick and twisted regime.

That is the Rethuglican health care plan, after all: Hurry Up and Die.

So does that mean MeeMaw has to work 80 hours a month to get her nursing home paid for?

irish379's avatar

maybe she can do a couple of shifts in the kitchen or laundry

Four hours a day, Monday through Friday, to get 80 hrs a month.

The cruelty is the point with these motherfuckers.

This makes my blood boil. On one hand, it feels like they did it deliberately and on the other I just question if they were too stupid to understand the scope of why people are on and need Medicaid. And sadly it's probably a combo of both. A pox on all their houses is the only thing I can without get banhammered.

Fuck it. I am going to finish my homemade hamburger buns. (This house better be clean when I get back!)

I think we found those DEATH PANELS the Republicans were so concerned about.

Ta, Robyn. I'm especially grateful that this was a reminder to this Medicare participant that my new Medicare Part D starts tomorrow, so I did the online thing to complete enrollment.

Hey, if we can work when we’re in hospice, then Mitch can show his face and show up for his job.

Get your butt back in the office, you slacker

Btw, I am very disappointed you didn’t go with a “Mostly dead” gif featuring Miracle Max.

Can’t we just let AI fill out the paperwork? That seems to be how this regime does everything.

What was the judge thinking? Sometimes there IS call to be an activist judge.

R. Riddle's avatar

The judge didn't even need to be activist, just use one little brain cell of common sense to rule this shit out of existence.

This early adopter of A1 won't be in business much longer I suspect.

A Vermont pharmacy chain's new AI assistant led not to the efficiency improvements promised but to "delays, incorrect information and privacy concerns." The AI, named "Burt" after the chain's long-dead founder, is said to suggest the wrong refills on sensitive medications, among other alarming problems. Customers "have no idea they agreed to it."

I was about to share this. My favorite part of the story is about customers getting daily phone calls from the AI chatbot, "muttering" and suggesting drugs they don't even need.

It is the future, now.

Ok, Andy Beshear, appoint a Senate replacement TODAY.

Is there some existential rule that says Democrats cannot exercise what they have a right to if Republicans happen to want that bauble ?

It was super adorable when Obama gave Repubs an underserved SC seat, and I am sure Mitch was Barry's bestie from then on, but who's friendship does Beshear feel he can't live without ? . . .

Barry Bamz should have appointed somebody to SCROTUS in the middle of the night during a Congressional recess under EMERDENSEY!
