In trumps declining mental state, if you don’t monitor hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes or droughts, there aren’t any. Case closed.

If you contracted me to build you a bridge and Iied to you about materials and cost, the bridge might collapse. If this is how Republicans approach business and economics they are no more trustworthy than the Temu-dreg construction firms in China. I cannot see how Republican businessmen trust Republican office holders. I sure as hell wouldn't. And I don't. A crooked politician is a crooked businessman.

We all know Sir aspires to be loved -- longs to be loved, loves to be loved. But Sir also knows his unalloyed superiority can act as a damper on affection for Sir. Which is why Sir is pleased to be an unwitting, obsequious tool. Sir is pleased to please select others by doing their bidding, by trampling down an entire population. For then does Sir become a Sally Field at the Mirror: "I can't deny the fact that you like me (flounces hair). Right now, you like me!"

why is it that they take a kindergarten fact 'plants like to use CO2 to help them grow' and use it to deny all other facts they don't like? do they not know how stupid that makes them sound?

No. It makes them sound like they know we're all stupid.

It’s interesting reading this after reading about the Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska melting.

Given the power of the insurance lobby, this continues to surprise me. Insurance companies are coping with climate change in real time. And the farmers in our area are painfully aware of how it's impacting their ability to raise crops.

Why should I bother taking the effort to be eco conscious? Fuckit. I 've got about 20 gallons of spent crankcase oil I need to go dump in the creek

BBB just fucked up my solar plans. Eliminated all of the incentives effective 01/01/2026. Hope all of my Trumpy neighbors enjoy the thick black smoke coming from the most inefficient coal burner I can get my hands on.

I think the most inefficient coal burner out there is just an old wood stove. I used to throw a lump of coal on at bedtime to keep it going overnight. That was back in the 70s. I got better. Now I have solar and "burn" electricity, but I still have a wood stove for just in case.

Trump and his ilk seem to believe that America is a sinking ship and that their best bet is to grab whatever they can get their hands on.

"Lying about that reality doesn’t change it; it just leaves people in harm’s way"

You'd think that would have been an important lesson after Trump's lies about COVID-19 resulted in hundreds of thousands of American deaths.

But MAGAots are not very teachable.

"Here’s a pretty horrible example that we almost missed, f’rinstance: Last week, Energy Secretary and former fracking CEO Chris Wright told CNN that the administration is “updating” the National Climate Assessments."

I guess one part of "updating" entails destroying anything helpful, beyond shitcanning scientists:

> "The Trump [sic] administration has asked NASA employees to draw up plans to end at least two major satellite missions, according to current and former NASA staffers.

...

The data the two missions collect is widely used, including by scientists, oil and gas companies and farmers who need detailed information about carbon dioxide and crop health. They are the only two federal satellite missions that were designed and built specifically to monitor planet-warming greenhouse gases." https://www.npr.org/2025/08/04/nx-s1-5453731/nasa-carbon-dioxide-satellite-mission-threatened

* This should be as effective as the Fulvous Fuckwad's pronouncement in 2020 that if we don't count the number of COVID cases then the infection is nothing to worry about.

* Note that the two satellites are important to the oil and gas companies -- a demographic the current regime caters to -- and to farmers -- who the Deep Saffron Dipstick says he wants to protect through tariffs and other measures that stand no chance of working.

* Despite the satellites helping two key demos, they are primarily used for the unproven and dangerous woke science of climate change so they must go.

* These aren't the only two used for study of the climate that are also slotted for termination:

> "Other satellites and instruments on the chopping block include the long-lived Aqua satellite, which carries a high-resolution Earth imaging instrument called MODIS, that among other uses, helps detect wildfires worldwide. Also at risk are the Terra and Aura missions, each of which have climate science applications, and planned satellites that would precisely measure solar radiation, heavy precipitation and clouds." https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/13/climate/nasa-satellites-trump-budget-cuts-weather

-----

"overturn the established science on climate because they’ve “been commenting and writing on climate change for decades” and therefore could whip up “a reasonable overview of what we know in climate change” without re-examining all the science from step one."

This is a great example of the logical fallacy of "appeal to authority" aka "argument from expertise." It boils down to, "I don't need to concern myself with current data, I've been doing this for decades now, so I know my shit."

-----

“just confirmed our worst fears – that this administration plans to not just bury the scientific evidence but replace it with outright lies to downplay the worsening climate crisis and evade responsibility for addressing it."

So, Dr Cleetus, why should climate science be any different than economic science, immigration, and crime?

I believe we need to tap into the European efforts to remain honest about data. Trump is going to send the US back to the 1850s literally and figuratively. According to Trump logic, guess work is better than knowing. Good luck with the next hurricane.

If these fellows are so positive about CO2, let's load them all onto a rocket and exile them to Venus. Hell, if you winked at them and leered, and whispered, "I've heard Venus is really HOT," nudge nudge wink wink, they'd probably volunteer for the trip.
