I honestly never imagined that I would say that the SCOTUS should just be ignored, but here I am.

Abraham Lincoln did it when the justices who had been nominated by slaveholders tried to hinder his prosecution of the war to put down the insurrection. Roger B. Taney, I believe, was Chief Justice at the time, to give you some idea of what he was up against.

Well, SCOTUS has no enforcement powers, so there's that.

Unless you're imagining something out of the Ten Commandments (or maybe The King and I?) 'So it shall be written and so it shall be done.'

But one needs Yul Brynner's forceful baritone to really pull it off.

I don’t want him to go to prison. His sentence should be 500 hours of community service, by which I mean picking up trash on the Long Island Expressway

500 hours is not nearly enough. 5000 would be more appropriate.

OT, but not terribly so because it involves Republican shenanigans -

In October 2020 then Pres. Donald Trump visited the Butler PA airport for a campaign appearance. The Butler County Sheriff's office dispatched 13 Deputies and no costs were recovered because there was no contract in place. The event was categorized as a Presidential visit. To reiterate - Although the appearance took place barely a month before that year's election the county categorized it as a Presidential visit, not a campaign stop.( So, ya' see, because the county didn't have a signed contract with the campaign Trump's gang didn't reimburse the county. Remember the old admonition "A verbal contract is not worth the paper it's not written on")

-

Come July 2024, Democratic County Commissioner Kevin Boozel, the lone Democrat on the three person board questioned County Sheriff Mike Slupe (a Republican) about the status of the county's involvement with the upcoming Trump rally. He was informed that there were plans to dispatch 6 deputies and because there would be no overtime - the deps would be working only to earn "comp time", not pay - so once again there would be no need for a pesky contract. As if six days worth of "comp time" is not something that should be reimbursible by the campaign.

-

In the wake of the July 13 incident the texts between Republican Board Chair Lesley Osche and board member Kevin Boozel began flying with Osche seeming to blame Boozel for the shooting for being such a PITA for insisting on a contract -

"- Commissioner Osche:

How freakein dare you. We were right behind the President. You who wanted a contract. Our people did well. You will burn in hell. We don't need their help. I'll will fully expose you. I hope you can't sleep.

- Commissioner Boozel:

Yes I wanted a contract and you need to pull your self together. Perhaps we could have had more there. So much for your professionalism.

Expose away.

- Commissioner Osche: You don't deserve professionalism.

- Commissioner Boozel: Nice. You're a piece of work. Grow up.

And Sherriff Slupe in response to questions about one of his deputies getting the hell outta there once that he discovered that the potential assassin was armed with an AR-15 type weapon -

Ta, Evan. That these losers can whine this with straight faces after Amy Coney Barrett was forced onto SCOTUS while early voting had happened and was happening in many states would be laughable if it weren't so horrific.

Criminy on a stick, you should've seen the hoops I jumped through to delay my JURY DUTY by one fucking month just because I already had a vacation and an international work trip set up. And yet this maroon delays his sentencing. FFS!!

[arguing that Trump will be sentenced to prison, so that Kamala Harris can campaign saying Trump is a “convicted felon sentenced to prison,”]

I'm glad Andy McCarthy is visualizing this and putting its energy out into the world.

Isn't it good that early voting starts BEFORE the sentencing from Trump's point of view? Some low info voters may have already cast their ballot for him, only to later realize he'll be in prison? That should be a feature for them, not something to whine about

What possible bearing does the fact that early voting started have to do with anything? The GOP promoted his candidacy fully aware of his criminality (potential and otherwise). This is their bed, may the party die in its sleep.

Just started reading McCarthy's McCarthy-esque column, ran across a sentence in the first paragraph, and felt obligated to fix it for him:

In early June, a jury ***that included two MAGA jurors, one of which said he got his news and information from Donald Trump's Truth Social platform*** found the former president and current GOP presidential nominee guilty on 34 counts of business-records falsification.

I have no clue what Emil Bove looks like IRL but the way the third paragraph is written -“Emil Bove whine” - I will forever see him in my mind’s eye with a baleful, cud-chewing face and big round eyes. And as a steer, rather than a bull. 🐮 😁

The thought of him in prison fills me with such glee. Prisons are awful places. There's nowhere soft to sit down. If you sit on the floor they consider it an escape attempt. The food is dreadful and the toilets are seatless metal with sinks on top. (Just spend a minute thinking about brushing your teeth in a sink directly above your toilet, which aerates when you flush.) The beds are narrow trays with flat nasty pads - no Tempurpedic mattress for you, DonOLD!

And no golf. No tweeting random nonsense for hours. No plane rides to stand blathering about Hannibal Lecter in front of adoring crowds of sister-fucking troglodytes.

It will be heavenly . . . for the rest of mankind.

If he's arguing that he's too old for jail, he needs to be put in now.

The longer we wait, the older he's getting. It would be a kindness of a sort.

Remember, Bernie Madoff (with everyone's $$$) was old too & the court did NOT grant any of his requests for home confinement, early release or permission to attend family events. Once Trump is in the custody of DOCCS, he has no guarantees either.

Smile!
