I'm not sure if this is my place to say, but if any of you know Gav Ashdown, he passed away yesterday evening. It was sudden and his wife was by his side. He looked fine one day, then he's in ICU, then he's gone. I don't know more than that, we are all in shock and waiting for updates.
Just learning this now. I am very sad. Fukui/Gav Ashdown will be missed by many here at Wonkette! I hope his wife is getting the support she needs at this time.
I didn't know him as well as I should, probably because I'm not usually on here at night, but his posts were always fascinating and entertaining. Though I felt like there were a lot of inside jokes that were going over my head. It was easy to see that he was a fierce force for good in the world. I'll miss him.

Oh my god...the world is a lot less for his loss...I always loved talking to him, and reading his comments, he was so intelligent and witty and ascerbic and the whole *gorilla* suit escapades made my year...we need more of the wonderful people like Fukui, not less...this is unfair and it sucks.
Man, Gav was a great guy. He played the grumpy cynic, but he was a big fuckin's softie. When Cally and I got married, he sent us a big wedding gift to help with our honeymoon, and every time we were in San Francisco he made sure we got his tickets for Giants games.
He was just fun to be around. When Cally and I first started getting serious he told me he was thrilled and that I needed to take good care of her. We always made sure to let him know when we in the city, and more than once we offered to take him to dinner. He always politely declined, but you could tell he was touched.
That is so cool. I am really kicking myself now for not getting over my shyness and trying to go to the 3rd Friday meet-ups in SAn Francisco. It was only like an hour and 20 minute drive from where i lived in NoCal. :( :( :(
He just seemed like a really great guy who cared deeply about people.
Fuck that for a game of soldiers. Its just as well I'm WFH today as I am crying. That selfish bastard to go and die on us and his family and coworkers and all the people he helped over the years

“They move faster than you could ever imagine. He just kept coming,” he said. The bison did not connect with McDaniel’s grandson, who was not hurt.
Bison can run up to 35 mph (56 kph), faster than the men’s world record in the 100-meter dash. They stand up to 6 feet (2 meters) tall, weigh up to 2,000 pounds (900 kilograms), and are North America’s biggest land animal.
Yellowstone records on average a couple of bison attacks every year. At least two people were attacked in the park in 2025.
Bozeman Health emergency department Dr. Eric Lowe said in the video that McDaniel suffered fractures in multiple places. McDaniel said the hardest part wasn’t the creature’s horns.
