If you're looking for something to do before Trick-or-Treating on Saturday, you might want to join House Speaker Mike Johnson and his dominionist pals for a 15-hour pre-election political prayer rally on the National Mall. Or not.

Ol' Don Snoreleone isn't physically up to doing this anymore. He walking gait is not stable and his voice got rough and worn pretty fast.

THEREFORE: get him out there!

> (He’s been feeling the need to clarify that a hurricane was actually a “watercane,” because of how much water was in it. You know how hurricanes are famously unpredictable when it comes to whether there’ll be precipitation involved.

Giving him orders of magnitude more credit than he deserves, I will point out that *technically* the hurricane scale is based on wind-speed, not precipitation.

There have been some high-category hurricanes -- meaning very vast rotational wind speeds -- that produced relatively little precipitation, because they also moved over the surface so quickly that they didn't remain over the open water very long.

And there have been some mere tropical storms -- comparatively low rotational wind speeds -- that absolutely *inundated* the area under them, because they stayed in one place, sucked up the open water, and dumped it on the land. (Waves / glares at Tropical Storm Allison.)

If you google the phrase "put yourself in shape" the results are 100% this incident of Trump yelling at a reporter. He's so, um, original.

The rallies are being cancelled because the GOP is finally seeing him as the anchor he is in the midterms, and they are trying anything to get voters back on their side.

Yes. All of them.

We spoke too soon. I just read some rallies are back on. So he TACO'd out of TACOing (excuse the grammar).

From every indication, he's damned if he does rally and damned if he doesn't. He's turning off his own voters. These are not the moves of a confident campaign.

I think the grammar is fine. I get it. Like the essence for existence, or opposite, or both ?

Very Sartre. 👍🏼

The Guardian says so as well: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2026/oct/30/trump-rally-iowa-kansas-republican-strategy-midterms-live

I think he just wants to dispel the idea that he is not fit or not wanted or not effective. Bold strategy....

JD Vance makes me want to scream. (Trump too but I tightly limit how much exposure I get to him for fear he'll do me in with stress.)

Not only is there so much wrong with "how about if everybody just spoke English?"- like, even English speakers frequently benefit from patient advocates "translating" medical jargon and helping educate the patient in words they understand (a role largely filled by nurses), plus even immigrants and ESL speakers who speak excellent English may get lost in rapid fire questioning & fast-paced medical explanations. NO ONE in ED medicine is like "damn those translators!" They're like "We need more translators, please!"

Plus doctors and translators don't make the same salary (and many translators are subsidised by federal or local government or charitable organisations- some even volunteer their time. It's difficult work however.)

PLUS the real irony is that translators make the ED move faster, particularly when they are properly supplied and staffed. (The majority of professional medical translation is done over the phone so I'm wondering if he saw A translator or maybe a kid translating for their abuela or what.) Miscommunication does not speed up any medical setting.

But the damning part of this to me, of course, is that his in-laws, the ones who help care for his children, are ESL speakers. Telugu is their first language. They are quite fluent in English of course, but they speak Telugu at home.

I'm sure JD wasn't exaggerating the number of translators, either. He never lies.

In the ER I visited in the spring, they were using electronic translators. My brother in Vietnam says everyone there has one on their phone or other device, he doesn't even need to learn Vietnamese, he just speaks English and the electronic device of choice repeats what he said in Vietnamese, then when they reply, translates it back into English for him. The US is behind in that respect.

For a guy who falls asleep during Cabinet Meetings, cancelling Campaigin stops certains speaks of exhaustion. And here I was hoping that he's exhaust himself to death. *sigh*

I love the Rupar, but too often he misrepresents what was said. In this case the reporter asked Sir if he was "sick of traveling," not "if he was too unwell."

Marshall Law is a possibility, but Marshall Law has some rules.

Rule #1: Yes, it goes to 11, keep it there!!

Rule #2: If it's too loud, you are too old

Rule #3: The Grateful Dead's Marshall stack circa 1974 WAS the loudest sound system on earth.

Rule #4: Above the door to Muscle Shoals studio was a sign: "Turn It Up." Turn It Up.

When I was in a rehab one time, my roommate was another old fukin' man, but more senile and less patience than me. (I know. Hard to believe.) Everyday he would ask for a laxative but as you

know, they have to call the insurance rep in Mumbai first, so it takes a while. He would yell and cuss loud at them until he got one. I wondered what would happen if he didn't get one in time.

Would it be Goodbye San Diego ? But nothing ever happened. Very boring stay.

Sadly--or hilariously--the rallies are back on:

"Four days out, Donald Trump is in panic mode. Last night, he canceled his rallies in Kansas and Iowa, insisted Republicans were “doing very well,” and then told a reporter who asked if he was tired that he was “disgusting” and “looks like hell.” By this morning, he has reversed course, and the rallies are back on. You don’t flip-flop like that four days before an election unless you don’t like what you’re seeing."

Have these people ever been involved with a narcissist? Changing plans after everything has been set up is one of their go to because they love the drama and inconveniencing anyone else because THEY "changed their mind" - AND? Why the fuck are people moving heaven and earth for this worthless fuck?
