It feels like the Democratic Party kicked it's own voters in the balls for....no reason at all.
They just did it because they could.
So they did.
Just waited till our backs were turned, took a running start and delivered a great big boot right into the crotch of everyone who was starting to feel a bit of optimism about the resistance to fascism.
Just stand right there over us while we are all curled up on the ground in agony and say "Next time we tell you how to vote in New York you vote the way we tell you to vote."
Such a colossal betrayal. I can't even.... fuck it....I can't.
I'm not normally up on conspiracy type theories, but boy--this one makes a bunch of sense. I can see Chuck Schumer standing there, hands on his hips, winded a little, saying all that, then kicking us again just to bring the point home.
If we can't do a 3d party here, we need to have a serious forced retirement with the Dems, and a rewrite of seniority rules. And maybe start publishing donor lists like baseball cards in the 50's.
Ta, Marcie. When my SNAP benefits and cash assistance were cut off WRONGLY by an asshole at HRA who never once looked up from his computer and kept me waiting for five hours (I had an 11 a.m. appointment and he finally deigned to see me shortly after 4 p.m.), I dropped 15 pounds very, very quickly. I was not overweight. When I went back to HRA for emergency assistance, the helpful worker told me I should not have been cut off AT ALL and gave me emergency SNAP and cash. I've said it before: being a Welfarian was harder than any job I've ever had, and I've had some shit jobs.
We'll be paying off our mortgage before we retire. Even without jobs, we'll be okay. I cannot say the same for all too many of my fellow Americans. AND THEY VOTED FOR THIS.
Paying healthcare money directly to people to purchase relies on insurance companies approving your coverage. For a 25-year-old in good health, that's no big deal. For a 70-year-old with co-morbidities, it's nearly impossible.
I was 48 when I had my heart transplant, and without Medicare, it would have never happened. The surgery alone was $980K, to say nothing of the of cost of 4 months pre- and post-op in the hospital, at least 25% of it in the ICU.
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but it's still just so patently ridiculous.
I'm on food stamps. I live in public housing. I'm gonna lose everything. Why the motherfuck did Schumer cave? We won the recent election! Everything about that said everyone hates Trump! And then Schumer just, for no fucking reason, caved. Geriatric piece of shit needs to go.
They gave me a 30 year loan at 67, and I sure don't expect to live until 97. As long as they can get those interest payments out of you, they're happy.
My humble thoughts on the Dems voting with Repubs is kind of like parenting a teen age boy who won't listen, but has to go ahead and do all the dumb stuff you told him not to do, because of the consequences he will suffer. In most cases, he'll do it anyhow and can't believe the consequences that rain on them. Polls showing 50-40 that repubs are responsible for all the crap that's gone on, are not enough per centages, in my opinion to show that people understood fully of what was at stake. Even listening to interviews of voting public that weren't really sure if dumpy or the repubs were fully in charge or to blame for shut down is mind boggling. Remember, some of the very people that will be hurt by all of this withholding of benefits don't visit new sites that the rest of us do. Listen to the interview of farmers on 60 Minutes last night, (yes, I'm angry with 60 Minutes, too from last weeks dumb interview/cozy visit). A number of farmers and ranchers are hurting and aren't ready to fully understand that dumpy and congress are in charge and to blame for their troubles Remember, we are dealing with a weak/compromised congress who takes their cues from dumpy, so Democrats trying to reason with them is not going to happen, ever. Unfortunately, and I really hate saying this, but people will suffer their healthcare and everything else being taken from them to make EVERYONE fully aware of what the repubs game plan has been all along. The rest of us have known all along and no one believed us! I'm so sorry to all that have to go through any of this.
Apologies, that I wasn't clearer in my Post. The teen age boy would be all the people that didn't understand from what the Democrats were telling them from the get go what was happening and that this all was straight out of the 2025 Playbook and now they are suffering the consequences. Some people have to experience the bad stuff to finally understand what the warnings were all about. It's hard and so awful to watch it happening.
Actually, as a side note, I have now grown son and daughter. We suffered through my son's teenage years and his "fun" choices. In retrospect, I probably should have just said a teenager instead of a teen age boy.
So the Democrats win a few elections and take it as a sign that we will turn out in huge waves to vote next year. After caving to the GOP yesterday, they shouldn't hold their breath. They haven't learned how to fight, only to gloat over small gains.
Because I'm a perpetual optimist (actually no, more of a chronic cynic) I'm thinking that caving on Medicare and ACA will let the true effects of the Big Bullshit Bill hit before the midterms - people can be deluded about most things by feeding themselves Faux News a constant blast but the pain of seeing that health care insurance premium double and having to pay that for a full year before the election is going to create a sizable number of thoroughly pissed voters who will remember just who it was that promoted that fraud.
Currently the GQP quislings who are dumb enough to have town halls are catching hell and sounding as convincing as Covenant Eyes Mike when trying to spin it. Pitchforks are being sharpened and torches lit: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DNBvUUQSca0/
It's not anything unless & until someone asks WHY he "admits" that ... and also manages to get an actual answer
To wit:
"Donald J. Trump has floated a plan for 50-year fixed-rate mortgages, posting an image comparing himself to Franklin D. Roosevelt (who introduced the 30-year mortgage) and prompting the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to say it was “indeed working on the 50-Year Mortgage—a complete game-changer.”
Bravo Marcie. Well done.

I will never forget this.
I will never forgive it.

SNAP's funded through September 2026?
Would these imbeciles be asshole enough to pull this shit again right before the midterms to gain some sort of unassailable electoral advantage?

good news or bad news, who cares? the same will remain in power
I just love how any news that contradicts Trump's BS is "fake news."What a copout!

Chuck gets his marching orders from the same corporate interests that the Republicans do.
Word came down from Wall Street.
End this.

TRUMP '28!
Hey, I'm in my late 60's! Think the bank will give me a 50 year home loan?
Methinks not.
They gave me a 30 year loan at 67, and I sure don't expect to live until 97. As long as they can get those interest payments out of you, they're happy.
I think Trump is hard working enough to starve Americans while taking away their healthcare.

I'm sorry, you lost me... who is the "teenage boy" in this analogy...?

Ok. Thank you!

Democrats aren't pointing out the egregious lying loudly enough. NO, not ONE, "illegal" benefits from ACA subsidies or SNAP benefits
It's offensive for the Slimeball-in-Chief to be talking about grocery prices. He has never been in a grocery store.

I do notice that Trump admits FDR was a great president. It's not much, but it's something.
Because he wants 4 terms as well....
