Regarding Harry Litman‘s bit on the judge reopening the original case to investigate whether it was fraud from the start (it was fraud from the start): the obvious answer from the DoJ is they knew nothing about it and would never have supported it, but that Grampa Assmouth is so self-serving and an ignorant greedy fucker that he just put it forward anyway. Once the original complaint was in place, and they were done panicking and/or laughing their asses off, they realized they needed to deal with this shit. So some bright boy came up with the “fund” plan and presented it to Assmouth, with the IRS-Immunity as a deal sweetener. Therefor it’s a real deal which both parties independently agreed to.
