Apologies for being a pain in the ass about this but please, Wonkette writers, don’t say steroidS <-plural. That’s the way the cheating in sports steroids are referred to. And should not be they are ANABOLIC steroids. And I think it’s only plural because different ones are used by different people. Like different brands maybe. What Trump is high as a kite on is dexamethasone. Please call it DEXAMETHASONE or DEX. If somebody’s on prednisone, the weaker kind that is a normal at home prescription drug, call it PREDNISONE or HYDROCORTISONE or CORTISONE.
Why does it matter? We are in a volatile information situation what with Trump admin lying, Russian disinformation. We don’t want there to be accidental misinformation. Could this spread from Wonkette to ALL THE WORLD? Who the fuck knows. It’s always just best to be accurate. And in this case the anabolic steroid “roid rage“ thing is well known. That there are drugs they give you in hospital that make you bizarre is less well-known. And I think there’s a tendency to think hospital drugs don’t make you like a crazy person even though temporarily. They do. Dexamethasone can cause mania. That is one of the most dangerous psychiatric symptoms there is. Think people on 60s LSD thinking they could fly. Giving someone with as mild symptoms as Trump dexamethasone is a really medically fishy looking thing. So especially once he’s out of office this may all come back again. As in Trumps medical care scrutinized. I’m sure it’s being scrutinized right now by some committee at Walter Reed. So, dexamethasone. Thank you.

Something like half the types of hormones in our bodies are steroid hormones. Estrogen is a steroid hormone. Whereas thyroid hormone is a protein hormone. Also none of these drugs were developed by the government, nor were they started during the Trump administration. Plus monoclonal antibodies was thought up in the 60s.
