Second place is the new first place in the Republican Dictionary™?

Works for me.

Texas 6th District is R+6 so not exactly a bellwether. Also, Trump? Fuck your feelings.

whatever it is it won't beat Pork and Beans (actually checked, recently had a kid)

I guess I'm slightly heartened that there is a growing list of Republicans in public office who fail to validate his lies. Or maybe he's just getting more aggressive about finding them under their rocks.

I'm sorry to hear this about Herschel Walker. But even in football-mad Georgia, do that many people still know who he is? And would an ex-football star really be able to attract more of the vote than a minister with a beagle?

His incentives have changed since then. He's not out to get a Republican back into the White House unless it's him, and his only reason to get a GOP majority is to aid his personal goals. Meanwhile, in the short term, Trump's ONLY pleasure in life is ruining other people's lives. He has shown time and again, for decades, that his biggest turn-on is wrecking people. This extends to anyone he thinks he can get to - except his daughter and maybe his sons. No one else is safe.

After all, his biggest career success was as a TV personality who humiliated and fired people publicly. He loved doing it. Half the time when he stiffed small businesses it wasn't about the money; it was about the wreckage he could cause. Until he got his hands on the United States, his biggest achievement was causing longterm economic misery and disaster in the vulnerable, poor city of Atlantic City.

Now that he probably won't be allowed near other things that can be wrecked, he's focused on wrecking the electoral process, or, at a minimum, the Republican Party.

"Dear Radio Yerevan, is it true that General Secretary Chernenko beat President Reagan in a race around Red Square in Moscow?""Technically, yes. Secretary Chernenko came in a very creditable runner-up. President Reagan, unfortunately, only managed to come second-last."

Adapt as required.

Edit: I see someone has already made the same joke: CURSES!!

Never, if it isn't about him, he doesn't give a fuck.

Unfortunately, yes, people in football-mad Georgia know *exactly* who he is. My husband is from Athens and was crushed when he found out his hero was a trumpist, but many people there will see this as a positive.

I blame* T-ball. Sorry, but there's no way everybody can be a winner.

* I don't blame T-ball, just the orange turd with the Merdes Touch.

That was a good read. I couldn't figure out how TFG was sustaining his belief. Never occurred to me that the GOP winner would tell him that there's no way he got more votes than Trump, to avoid angering him!

Is T-Ball one of the guys Paul LePage blames for all the crime in Maine?

Oy. Merdes Touch ftw.

It's something he inherited from religious leaders. God totally told a self-declare prophet that the world would end today. But since it hasn't ended, the "prophet" has to explain why they were wrong without admitting that they can be wrong.
