It seems pretty evident the US Congress is not interested in stopping Trump. Or gunfire in schools either. Our trading partners (former trading partners) could help. The president of Portugal has given me an idea. Quiet quit the USA. I would also suggest recalling their Ambassadors - or sending ours home until things change. The threat of really being cut off from the rest of the world - which would affect multiple levels of the US business community - could get the US Congress to wake up to the real danger Trump poses to the very people who donate to them. Follow the money. People complain in the streets, Congresspeople don't really care - it is the money they care about.

Add to this the soft secession now being floated among donor states.

They will probably do so anyway since Trump makes enemies instead of trade deals, but a statement, beyond halting packages in the various postal delivery systems, would be a next level warning shot across our ship of state (before it sinks, hopefully). Might be more than I can hope for, but if we do not get rid of this madman, this country will be begging for foreign aid instead of stopping ours to them.

And even though you just made me read this, this, this Abomination!! - I’m still grateful for Wonkette, even when you make my head hurt and my heart ache!

Happy Labor Day! May you all receive a job with health care, retirement benefits, vacation pay, paid sick leave, paid holidays and the right to be represented by a kick-ass Union against any affront from your employer! And yes, so many of these visages of by-gone ‘before-times’ were brought to you by Unions, who had incredible percentages of Veterans leading them, Veterans who took an oath to protect us (the Big Us) from all enemies, foreign & domestic, and brought these oaths and principles with them to the American Workplace, and made those places safer, fairer and better compensated than their scab competition! Thanks to each and every one of you who ever supported and/or joined a Union! And may you one day get to join a Union again.

I’ve said since Jan 7 that we would’ve been better off if the mob HAD gotten ahold of Pence & a few others who allowed the maga pus to fester to the point of bursting. The USA would’ve been shaken to it’s core and there would’ve been serious repercussions that drumpf & maga couldn’t avoid.

The video with the vets at Union Station made my day. I'd like to share it. Can anyone suggest how to do that? The phone number they gave was for the GI Rights Hotline: girightshotline.org. That is a service provided by Quaker House of Fayetteville and allied groups. This is inspiring!

Lest we forget, Donald Trump encouraged and incited the crowd to violence. Michael Byrd did not kill Ashli, Donald Trump did. Donald Trump Callously pitted Americans against each other with no intent other than to assuage his bruised ego. He then gleefully watched the events unfold while snacking and guzzling Diet Cokes, This can only be described as the highest level of evil.

There is NO Justification for the events of January 6th, yet I have sympathy for the participants. There is but ONE person responsible for those events. The blame for all of the pain, suffering, loss of life. and destruction of property rests squarely on that ONE person's shoulders. Sadly, that ONE person will never be brought to justice.

Cool. Now tell us about how you have sympathy for ICE, too. For fuck's sake. Will you still have sympathy for MAGA when they put one in your head and shove you in the mass grave? Because that's what they have planned for you. That's what they have planned for all of us. Is your real name Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries? Because other than that, I simply can't imagine that you are a real person living in this reality. Sympathy. For fucking j6ers. Get the fuck out.

I have watched the Ashli Babbit video of her getting shot before for entertainment. It is about the funniest thing from the entire January 6th insurrection. Watching her get nailed with that bullet puts joy in my heart.

Mmm. Doesn't make it any less true. I do see your point. It's good to cultivate the angels of our better selves.

And yet.

Psychopaths are born, sociopaths are made, allegedly.

Judging by what I'm hearing in other groups, quite a few people are finding the ability to harden their hearts...easier. I'm certainly less soft than I was.

But I'd rather know it was happening with tools to see and talk about it, than not. It's the only way back there is, sadly.

One of the first to object to the re-hanging of this particular portrait of Lee would be Robert E Lee himself. The portrait was done long after his death. Lee left instruction that he was not to be buried in his Confederate uniform and he wished no monuments be built to the Confederacy.

If there were a portrait of Lee at West Point, I am certain Lee would prefer an earlier one with recognition for his accomplishments in surveying and engineering.

He was not a proponent of the institution of slavery. Like many others at the time, including Lincoln, he viewed it as morally objectionable yet economically necessary.

Lee was Lincoln's first choice to command the Union Army Lee reluctantly declined stating that he could not wage war against his fellow Virginians.

We cannot change history we an only learn from it.

This is interesting! "Morally objectionable yet economically necessary."

I can hear today's robber barons meeping about how privatization of public property-- literally the theft of it from We, the People, including their tax breaks-- is necessary "to maintain their own way of life" at the expense of other people's.

Trump should celebrate January 6th by inviting all of those FINE PEOPLE to Mar-a-Lago. Or maybe to the White House for dinner on the Rose Garden slab.

This is the same mentality of those who see It was patriotic to fight the civil war to maintain slavery. With this mentality, their values and beliefs, however harmful are justified and virtuous because who they are harming are considered inferior and evil. They are so mentally messed up that they can't see the self-evident evil within themselves. They truly believe they have a noble cause and they are fighting the good fight. Their handlers however I suspect know exactly what they are doing to maintain power and control over them so they will do their bidding.

The only reason there weren't 1000+ dead rioters was because the rioters were largely white. They were INCREDIBLY lucky there was only one. I weep for the actual service members that have to preside over this farce
