This, plus the surge in activated Hispanic voters after SB 1070 (the "show your papers" law) has basically been the recipe for Dem success statewide in Arizona (and in the House until the not so independent redistricting commission re-gerrymandered most districts in the R's favor). I would have thought that basically losing every top race for several cycles other than Trump in 24 would have broken the desire of the GOP to double down on shitty candidates at the top of the ticket, but they went ahead and nominated Andy Biggs for governor (who has convinced the NY Times and nobody else he is trying to to tack to the middle).
On the "60 day" thing. Keep in mind that Paxton's office put together a plea deal and recommended one day (time served) as a sentence for the pedophile.
The judge thought this was outrageous and it was the _judge_ who imposed the 60 day sentence.
I can see parallels with Texas and California, it used to be a GOP stronghold until the early 90”s with Pete Wilson and his “F&$@k the Browns “ Proposition.
