Last week FCC Chairman Ajit Pai appeased his evil telecom overlords and releasedtheirhis plan to destroy net neutrality. By dropping this bomb right before Thanksgiving, it was hoped this massive policy shift would be overshadowed by awful sex monsters and sportsball. Instead, this move to cripple the free flow of information provided by the Internet may have actually backfired on the arch-conservatives attempting to appease their corporate commanders.
We only just got AT&T a few years ago. And I don't live in the actual middle of nowhere; we're a few miles from a node, but on a dead-end street. My only choice was dial up for many years. Satellite was *very* expensive, and too slow for my needs (now it's not as pricey, but still slow). Back in around 2005 I finally got radio wireless, which was not at all cheap and not really that fast, but was an improvement. AT&T teased me for ages with ads and junk mail telling me that they now offered service, but they never actually did.
AT&T finally came through back in around 2013, and yes, it's faster than radio, and a little cheaper. But our lines are very old. The guy who came and worked on them told us that AT&T honestly shouldn't even sell us service, our lines were so aged and crappy. New lines were run just last week, but they bypassed our street, as always.
But we pay the same damn amount as everyone else, for crappier service. I am sure this new era of Internet 'freedom' will mean we will be getting better prices and fasterhahahahahaha I can't even anymore.
India's telecom regulator has made recommendations to ensure an open internet in the country and prevent any discrimination in internet access in a long-awaited report (PDF), after debating the issue of net neutrality for more than a year. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said it was not in favor of any "discriminatory treatment" with data, including blocking, slowing or offering preferential speeds or treatment to any content. The Indian regulator's support of net neutrality stands in contrast to the recent stance taken by the chair of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. Last week, Ajit Pai, a Republican appointed by President Donald Trump in January, unveiled plans to rescind so-called net neutrality rules championed by former President Barack Obama that treated internet service providers like public utilities.
70 +% of Re-fucking-publicans are against ending net neutrality.
In the boonies of the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake? One. That's 1. Or, one.
Who are one and two? I'd go with Martin Shkreli and Donnie Jr.

You mean the very same Mitch who sat on Obama's SCOTUS pick for a year? Why, one might ask, would someone want to 'deal' with him?
He's so punchable.
Good question. I was Not Happy that they were pushing Dinesh D'Souza's anti-HRC video before the election like it was just another movie.
Kill your television.
I wouldn't be surprised, or it was printed in big gold letters on the top of all of his papers "DO NOT SAY HOW"

My dad's ham radio antenna is on a 50 foot tower. Would that do it?

Breitbart has been twitting that they will be the only ones allowed to host videos once this goes through.
