not for nothing, but veterans have been able to pay for commercial driving schools through The G.I Bill for over 50 years

Donald Trump has been the savior of the Iranian regime. Prior to his attack, their grip on the people was weakening daily He propped them up, solidified support by loyalists and made dissent a suicide mission. Good job, Donnie!

I’d rather drive my tiny Miata next to a big rig than a jacked up pickup, it’s far more likely that the trucker is aware that small cars exist and has mirrors that can see me.

MRK's avatar

Most are also speed limited, so unless there's someone in my lane who doesn't understanding passing, I can probably get past them quickly enough.

Russell Jones's avatar

Same with me and my Honda Fit. :D The jacked-up pickup crowd somehow got the idea that going asshole-deep in debt to buy one of those somehow relieves them of any obligation to learn how to drive the fucking thing.

"He did not give out pillows to bolster his support. The defence rests... on these incredibly comfy pillows. Quote the code VOTELINDELL for 14.88% off."

Jamoche's avatar

Can’t imagine anyone who isn’t already in the pillow cult feeling more positive towards him after using one of those bags of foam scrap.

Let's stay on this pillow case.

Russell Jones's avatar

That didn't take long! And I have little doubt that ol' Mike is NOT completely gooned up on "stimulants" and will provide very convincing testimony on his own behalf. :D

ManchuCandidate's avatar

Talk about having one's political life being smothered by his own pillow!

RRJKR's avatar

Step back and look at it in it's totality, and you cannot help but be horrified at the amount of damage this administration has done to the United State and actually to the whole world. A fictional evil genius from a spy novel would be hard pressed to do more!

Jamoche's avatar

Truth is stranger than fiction because we expect fiction to make sense.

Hops: grrr mad's avatar

The amount of damage done, and continues to be done, to this country is astounding. TFG had plenty of help in this endeavor, luckily (?) for him, since he's an idiot:

Elon Musk

Stephen Miller

Russell Vought

The Supreme Court

...and an endless stream of ass-kissing Cabinet level nincompoops.

Add--ALL the Republicans in the Senate and House who enable this shit as well!

TootsStansbury 🇺🇦's avatar

Yes, it’s the fictional evil genius administration. It’s cackling cartoon caricatures all the way down. They’re even building evil underground lairs.

RRJKR's avatar

It's been so successful that it leads me at times to suspect that the "idiot" facade is just a ruse.

The reason, of course, is to "Make America Great Again."

Trump assures his supporters that "the steady compass of Faith has guided my hands through it all."

BREAKING: A reporter asked Mike Johnson at a press conference today, “Should we bother asking you any questions about Max Miller, Trump’s latest Iran deal, or his Capital One scandal, or have you not heard about any of them yet?"

Uncle Betamax's avatar

An actual reporter? I thought they'd all been sacked?

More of this, please.

Not sure it's real or sarcasm, but ...

MRK's avatar

Probably not real, sadly. But it needs to happen.

OT: TODD being his usual douchecanoe treasonweasel self. https://bsky.app/profile/muellershewrote.com/post/3ms6p4hqjgc24

FYI: Blanche rescinded the ORDER establishing the slush fund, not the underlying “settlement.” The settlement says any changes must be agreed to by ALL parties, not just Todd. This “rescission” isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

And yet, he'll be confirmed tomorrow.

I imagine the performative "objections" have already been withdrawn.

Holdouts for Trump's attorney general pick say they will vote in favor of his nomination

Republican senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, two key holdouts on Todd Blanche’s attorney general nomination – now say they will vote to advance him to the full Senate.

The outgoing lawmakers, who have repeatedly clashed with Trump over the past year, said their concerns were resolved after “successful negotiation of a legally enforceable document” that formally ends the $1.8bn “anti‑weaponization fund” and makes clear that Trump and his family will not receive indefinite protection from audits of future tax filings. Both issues had been deal‑breakers for Cornyn and Tillis. In the document Blanche released on Sunday, the acting attorney general did say that the sweeping immunity offered to the president and his family for their past conduct does not change. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2026/aug/03/donald-trump-todd-blanche-anti-weaponization-fund-iran-latest-news-updates?page=with%3Ablock-6a70a4ee8f08a544c167e722#block-6a70a4ee8f08a544c167e722

In the 70s, Trucking was a viable career. Trucks were profitable investments and drivers were able to make generational wealth once they were paid off.

Today its more of a service job. They still have to buy their trucks but they are far less affordable and are much less likely to be paid off. This is why middle and working class Americans don't drive trucks anymore, requiring immigrants to do it.

So it's not they Veterans don't already have the opportunity to do this, its simply that its a losing proposition.
