“I genuinely believe that if Trump wins and gets the nuclear codes there is an excellent possibility it will lead to the end of civilization.”

Hyperbole? I fear not. What a time to be alive!!!

Drumpf validates all their worst qualities, so they choose not to see it.

Ever notice how it's ALWAYS the wrong week to quit sniffing glue?

And it definitely looks like that'll be true through at least early November.

Schwartz, once a down-at-his-heels journalist, used his take from 'Art of the Deal' to get into the business guru business. He sold rah-rah business advice to corporate clients. There is at least a smidgeon of truth in Trump's accusation that Schwartz learned to hustle from Trump and made his living thereafter by playing that game.

What do you expect? This is America. It's all hustle all the time in the upper echelons. Every advertisement is a lie. Every ideology is founded on half-truths, distortions and self-serving lies. We swim in a sea of lies. Rising wealth concentration makes no sense without the lies. Unregulated monopolism makes no sense without the lies. Unfettered exploitation of fossil fuels makes no sense without the lies. The drug war makes no sense without the lies. Political assassinations, supporting dictatorships, and secret wars by the dozen make no sense without the lies. We are a nation that understands itself with the help of lies; without them we understand nothing.

Schwartz makes for an odd truth-teller. He lied for money - fact. And yet I believe him. HIs new account of his time with Trump rings true.

Trump is a narcissist and a sociopath with an attention span that wouldn't do credit to a toddler, possessing a vast ignorance which he covers with boasts. And lies, of course. That's expected in America.

What isn't expected is that the public will ever embrace a genuine, all-the-time truth teller (and of course it's doing no such embracing in this political race) It's too painful to dispense with the lies that coddle us, comfort us, and pick our pockets.

It did not escape my notice that at the end of all this he's still plugging the damn book, only now as a way to raise money for the downtrodden.

I'm not impressed with this guy's remorse. Screw him, he did it, he got rich, and I bet he'd do it again.

Actually I think he's classic Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Yeah, I think you're right.

Schwartz is probably telling the truth, but he's also a guy motivated by self-interest above everything else. It's hard to see in him a sympathetic character.

Bacon did not write the Shakespeare plays.

But like the Earl of Sandwich, I remember him fondly anyway.

Beulah, I wonder that, too.

But it amazes me to discover - especially at this website - a horde of self-identifying progressives who are just exactly as uncritical of neoliberal politicians as Trumpsters are of their favorite con man.

Neoliberalism isn't progressive. Why don't self-identifying progressives see something so obvious?

Yeah, I remember all this.

My response is still the same: An asshole like Cuban undoubtedly knows another asshole when he sees one.
