Watched an older Netflix documentary on the Joplin tornado. Almost all live videos. At the end, Obama speaks to the class of 2012 at Joplin High School. He was, as usual, completely riveting and heartfelt. This is Joplin, MO. so you knew he had plenty of detractors and haters in the audience, but I can say from watching they were all still mesmerized by his speech. Nobody blinked or looked away. Made me sad. Those were the days.
UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim spoke at my college graduation. Apparently, he and the President of the university knew each other in previous careers.
Not long after that graduation, it came out that Waldheim was a Nazi. Like, a real one in WWII.
To maintain international tradition and stability, candidates should only be able to stand for the office if they have the name Dag, U, or Boutros-Boutros.
