I do wonder about “independents.” I mean, are they people like me who register “independent” just because they don’t want to be inundated with political mailings, but they absolutely support one side or the other? Or are they truly independent, believing at the same time that immigrants are killing all our Nanas, and that healthcare for all is a positive thing? I’m guessing it’s mostly the first, since it’s really hard to imagine in this age of the unbreachable ravine between the parties that anyone could really have one foot on each side.
