Funny how they showed more solidarity when Obama's press sec refused to call on the Fox correspondent, ain't it?

I'm completely disgusted with the lack of solidarity in the press corps. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised. Everytime the TV reporters and NY media showed up at my regular beat, I had to fight for a place to stand and take photos, and it used to really piss me off when a guy who was 3 feet wide would step in front of me with no qualms at all. Boorish and unprofessional. But when he calls out reporters individually and abuses them, the rest of the press really needs to stand up for their colleauges. Not only will they look better in the eyes of the nation, THEY'RE NEXT!

Hilarious but, sadly true. Thanks for this piece. It's excellent.

Just the other day, Bernie was saying that people who won't vote for black candidates may not be racist. Really, Bernie? Then what the fuck would you call it? Because when the criterion for deciding that someone isn't fit for office is their race, I somehow detect the teeniest tiniest element of racism in their decision. Fuck him for being unwilling to acknowledge racism when it's staring us all in the face, fuck him for being a useless demagogue so bent on winning the holy sacred White Working Class that he'll bless their worst vices.

In all fairness, Bernie did say that he believes people will be less reluctant to vote for black candidates next time, so he probably doesn't think racism is wicked awesome. But you know what might help? If Bernie, the unchallenged master of speaking the language of the White Working Class (he totally is -- just ask him), were to suggest that those white voters should examine themselves for racist attitudes they weren't aware of. That's the nicest way to nudge people in the right direction, but the fucker wouldn't even do that.

In the end, when racist white people won't vote for black candidates, Bernie doesn't place the responsibility on the racist white people for being racist, he places the blame on the black candidates for being black.

Well...they'd also have to explain to him the criteria for a good choice. Like intelligence, like experience, like the determination to do the right thing. Like an open mind. Like a mind, period.

If Trump gets upset because there are Black Women Reporters, then this news from the election will probably send him into a hissy fit when he finds out. All Dems.

Obama smoked him on endorsements. I don't remember the exact numbers, but more of the candidates Obama endorsed won than those endorsed by tRump.

N'awlins definitely had it's own peculiar take on the Peculiar Institution. There's a series of historical fiction by Barbara Hambly that deals with this. The first book is called A Free Man of Color (IIRC). Recommended.
