And now we know how natural and instinctive it is that this Preznit and his administration can fuck up a war, an economy, a Justice Department, a world, all in a nanosecond.

I wonder if Consolidated Leviathan Media will be the same viscous, spineless, pandering, just-give-us-the-money shitbirds they were before they accumulated all that market share?
Bruce H. Mann is Elizabeth Warren's spouse and a professor of law over there at Harvard Law. I don't believe that he's ever done any nekid modeling, but will we ever see a biopic of him? With a theatrical release?
I wanna know how they can even buy it out. Isn't Paramount- and their parent company- currently enjoying a shitload of debt and operating far into the red?
Police procedurals also too. You will soon discover that something called "NCIS: The Moon" is in its twentieth season and has consistently been the most watch programme on one of their stations for the last two decades.
Off to forage for cats, as in to locate some cats, to administer meds. Pop a couple of pills in their mighty Maine Coon maws, and wash my paws. Buenos dias, comarades.
💪🏽 Wow, that went quickly! Some evasion and mild resistance, but they appear to tolerate it okay. Thank you for your unflagging support, it is the reason I succeeded!
State tax incentives to get them to build in that state. Texas is doing this a LOT. Connecticut has film tax credits ... ever wonder why so many of those Hallmark Christmas movies are shot in Connecticut? Now you know.
So co worker and I were out digging holes and it was hot. How hot was it? So hot people called us a bit after noon and asked why the fuck we were still out there digging holes.
So I had some time on my hands in the afternoon and went back to digging archives for the people who owned the house we're currently working on.
It's starts out with Very Rich White Family A who owned a lot of land (and, being virginia, also a lot of slaves). Cue the civil war and suddenly those mega plantations are not quite as profitable. This is when the family starts selling off land (an absolutely normal thing for gigantic plantation owners during that time period. It sure beat getting a job). BUT that is where this one becomes interesting.
Patriarch dies sometime in the 1870s. Starting in the 1880s, eldest son is now the one on the deeds and all the people he is selling to are black. Also not abnormal, lots of former plantation owners sold to black folk tiny land parcels at ridiculous interest that was often time foreclosed upon a bit later, it was a whole thing. But THIS one ...didn't? The terms were reasonable? By the 1900s, all of these new owners are listed as owning their homes, not mortgaging them, which IS a rare thing for that time period. An entire community of formerly enslaved people owning pretty good sized farms.
One of these is the house we're doing now. Father born into slavery, marries after the war (a 16 year old too, which unfortunately was also not abnormal) and proceeds to have 14 kids. Only one daughter is listed as being able to read or write or attend school, which again, not strange for the time period, often families would put all their hopes into one spawn and THEY would take it upon themselves to teach the younger ones.
But wait, it gets even better. By the 1930s, our guy is in his 70s, and alone, and he sells his land to moderately Rich White Family B, who were mill owners (and for whom many of the other neighbors worked for) but there is a stipulation in the deed that our guy will "have dwell in his home upon said land until his death or he moves from it." Now that is abnormal. Enough so that I do not believe I have ever seen it outside of a family unit before. But they are not related, Family B (they were brothers) were just...not horrible people and willing to let the old guy stay for a break on the price?
Moral of the story: I used to not much care for background research o'er much, it was long, boring, dusty and often fruitlessly frustrating. But in this day and age of Internet, it is getting to be rather fun. Plus, it makes what we're doing feel a lot more interesting.
I was talking with supe about it and she was relating to me a story of the Garrets (yes, those Garrets!) who became sort of social pariahs after the entire Booth thing. A black family moved in to the next farm over and there is a lot of mutual aid back and forth between the two. Apparently, the stark black and white lines were not as strict until all the Jim Crow shit started: and might be WHY it all started. White folk, especially the less rich more farming type, were being too friendly and starting to intermarry and stuff, racist fucknuts can't have that.
We've got another family that was inter-racial even, in the 1880s, but by the 1920 were listed as white, so they must have been pretty passing. And got in just under the stupid one drop rule.
It's a little sad though. In the 1910 census she is still listed as having 14 children, but only 12 living. Though, for that time period, having 12 out of 14 survive is pretty amazing.
I had another family not so lucky and found the death certs for 3, who died within months of each other, all from measles complications. Which is what made me want to punch anti vaxxers yesterday.
They should be FORCED to read of the real terror and heartbreak measles once instilled
NASA Firms show that heat signatures across the Tuapse refinery in Russia. Storage facilities, the processing units and potentially even terminal areas are compromised. It looks like a pretty good hit.
I’ve got a two tier pet fountain on my patio. Hummingbirds stop by for a drink and a bath in the top section. Never saw a hummingbird take a bath before.
Morning excitement. Woman had a siezure on the train. A guy doing EMT training and some medical professional helped her, but she's still not really responsive. Real EMTs getting her now.
It could be that Rubio has teleported up tRumps ass. Doesn't Grinder Mike have regular office hours?
They should have just taken her to the quarry and shot her in the face.
Looks like they did... and tried to spackle over the evidence.
Why do the people of South Dakota ever vote for Kristi Noem?
She was almost normal in the before times.
I remember Her ok for Sturgis during Covid. Back when CDC was a functioning entity, they tracked the spread from Sturgis. Catastrophic
And now we know how natural and instinctive it is that this Preznit and his administration can fuck up a war, an economy, a Justice Department, a world, all in a nanosecond.
So, I have a question. Did Sen. Mike Rounds blow him, or did he send someone to blow him?
This is not a bit disturbing... maybe a little.

They are going to make every channel nothing but shows of people shopping for houses.

This is a common occurrence at my house, but the Newfie just wags, smiles, and lumbers off. Accidentally knocking them over with her mighty tail.
LOL, this made me laugh.

WTF they're getting tax breaks? Aren't they all owned by Dick Tech Bro Billionaires? Oh right, of course they are!
IIRC, oil companies still receive subsidies.
Yeah, that's fucking nonsense!
State tax incentives to get them to build in that state. Texas is doing this a LOT. Connecticut has film tax credits ... ever wonder why so many of those Hallmark Christmas movies are shot in Connecticut? Now you know.
And they started years ago. Now it's costing the states billions. TX especially.

Thanks, that was cool to read.
Thanks for writing that and bringing us along on the trip through time. It was a Nice Time and interesting thing to start my day.
awww :hugs:
I find it rather fascinating. I'm a yank by birth so it is interesting to me to read these stories I never heard about.
God, the south is complicated. I found similar things in the research for my novel.
It really is.

Morning excitement. Woman had a siezure on the train. A guy doing EMT training and some medical professional helped her, but she's still not really responsive. Real EMTs getting her now.
Up and walking w/EMTs, she looks groggy but at least she's upright.
Hope she'll be okay.
Me too. I don't know her, but that was kind of upsetting.
When we had something like that happen at work, we would make sure they didn't hurt themselves, and then help the nurse when she arrived.
And then write reports (the glamorous side of the job).
