He was associated with Lee Atwater, and his wife, Edwina, is a lobbyist for conservative causes. His op eds are so blatantly sycophantic that comments always run at least ten to one calling him a Trump ass kisser. And he NEVER reveals any conflict of interest in his columns.

It strikes me as pure pragmatism on the part of the Ukraine. The chances that they will ever get the money back from Manafort and the guy in Russia..zilch...the actual possibility of getting anti-tank guns....100%. Plus they have no dog in this fight. They don’t care wtf happens to Dolt45 and company. They want no part of the constitutional crisis we are having and they don’t want to piss off a nutjob like Dolt45. So it was a win-win strategy for them.
