Trump's deal with Putin was obviously to damage the US system as much as possible, so naturally he will always push the very worst possible candidate for everything.
My take is that none of the politicians believe anything Trump says. They're just going along with him because the constituents believe everything Trump says.
Grew up as one of the few non-Sicilianos in a wholly I-Tye neighborhood. In Pennsylvania, all of a half century ago. And every Marino, Barletta and Mastriano was full-on Democrat and damned proud of it.
Support for the Big Lie may be mandatory to a win a republican primary, but I don’t see many Pennsylvanians who want to spend two more years refighting the 2020 election. We need someone who will bring jobs to the Commonwealth and maybe pave the goddamn roads once and a while.

I often wonder how many of these people actually believe the Big Lie and how many are just opportunists.
People who are successful in politics didn't get that way by ignoring reality, so why are there so many apparent true believers?
