He's gonna keel over and "call for civility" a la Maxine Waters.

My point: there's something to be said for fighting for your principles, even if you lose doing it. Why do you think the Confederacy is still venerated today?

Yes there are plenty of places where the only electable Demos are 'Blue Dogs', but still, I'd rather see them all fight for whatever shreds of America is left. I only wish the news media didn't immediately jump to the "Democrats in disarray" or "Such incivil foul language!" false tropes.

Also: there are actual Dems that get elected in Red and Purple states! Lookit Jon Ossoff et al!

So in balance, yes you're right: I don't envy Schumer either, but I also wish he had something resembling a backbone instead of shutting down people with backbone like Waters.

Yeah... I don't think that's an option anymore.

I'd love to fight clean and fair, but you can't do that when the other guy has metal in his gloves.

I actually don't envy Schumer. There are quite a few Democrat senators in pro-Trump states who are up for re-election this November. He can do what the Left is yelling at him to do and fight this candidate tooth and nail, knowing that a) he most likely will not win, b) the next nominee isn't going to be any better, and c) he's not helping those "at risk" senators get re-elected. Or, he can lay low, making a few token protests on principle while telling those senators to do what they have to do in order to get re-elected because the Dems have an actual shot at winning control of the Senate, and incur the wrath of the Leftists that demand a fight to the death on every single battle.

Schumer's no novice at politics. What do you think he's going to do?

"A judge must interpret the Constitution as written."

Does this mean that Kavanaugh will be enforcing the "well regulated militia" part of the Second Amendment? That will make a welcome change from the unregulated loony-tune rabble that are currently allowed to own guns ....

I think he's paying back favors.

And then We would say "We told you this would happen!" while the Fox News talking heads scream "Why didn't the Democrats stop this?"

But this is Schumer. We have yet to see anything resembling 'backbone'.

I feel like this pick is also specifically targeted at red-state Dems just to give them cover for a bad pick.

Judge Kavanaugh written an opinion paper that a sitting President should not be prosecuted , that being said – it will be a safe bet for Don the Conto avoid prosecution for past and present wrongdoings !

Don is a huckster by trade, a phony con man looking to make an easy buck. He has a history of cheating and lying, and 70-year old men don't change, except for the worse.

I do not want to see any current or recent member of SCOTUS in a grass skirt. Or, for that matter, a coconut bra.

I don't know about tarot cards, but if you've seen the documentary on the Notorious RBG (what a great nickname), you'd know that she can still bust a move. I've always believed that the Senate confirmation process on nominated Supreme Court justices should include some kind of dance-off. First, it would eliminate most middle-aged white men (which means that sadly, I'll never be Chief Justice) and secondly, it would fit with the contemporary zeitgeist on who should be running our country or the Supreme Court - which is more America's Got Talent and less your common Oliver Wendell Holmes. I mean, the country's going to hell. We might as well be entertained on the way
