Pedo47 claims he’s having productive meetings with Iran. Iran says, “um, no. We’re not talking at all.”

Sounds like Pedo47 is setting things up for blaming Iran for when he launches the ground invasion. “We were ready to make a deal, but Iran backed out of the talks.”

"Pedo 47" Brahahaha! Good One.

OT

All the markets are up, lapping and begging for treats from the Glorious Caliphate of Tehran.

He really hasn't said much beyond they are not asking for a ceasefire that the Orangelush says they did. Still WS slobbering for Peace. Maybe they think another aircraft carrier group and the 82 nd Airborne will bring Peace that Art of the Deal didn't?

Who knows what lurks in the hearts of Wall Street hedge fund traders.

Oil is bouncing off it's new bottom, at $100 and change.

Nike reported ok on the bottom line but China gave them up for Lent. With big drop offs

So the stock down about 15%.

That's all I know.

New regime, same as the old regime.

Even the NYT is confused:

"Regime change has occurred in Iran. Or it hasn’t. It is a goal of the war. Except it isn’t.

Those are some of the dizzying messages that have come from President Trump and his aides in recent days. The phrase “regime change” has flown from lips this week like fighter jets crisscrossing the Persian Gulf."

It's quite simple really. NYT just needs to interview it's Pulitzer Prize winning sources at

Joe's Diner in Indiana off the I-90. They will tell them what side the toast is buttered on.

Sure he breaks the thing and Europe is right to be frustrated and angry with that.

But they should try to fix it anyway. Think about it. Do they really want him to try to fix it? Does anyone believe he knows how to fix anything?

Allegory time: a priceless and very old ceramic vase is knocked off a pedestal and shatters on the floor by a clumsy oaf. It is out of the question that it simply be swept up and discarded because it is unique and one-of-a-kind. Nothing can replace it.

Do you ask the clumsy oaf who broke it to fix it? You already know he is both clumsy and an oaf! He'll fuck it up so bad he ends up glued to the ruined prize himself. No! You call around and find an expert restoration and conservation service who specializes in such meticulous work as this.

They spend months fitting and gluing the pieces back together; they create a color matched paste to fill the pulverized portions and holes; they spend as much time as is needed to create and repaint a faux glaze finish wherever it is needed; they painstakingly blend everything together.

But make no mistake, there will always be tiny imperfections and cracks that can be found with a magnifying glass. An expert eye will always be able to tell that the piece is restored. Everyone will feel that the restored vase is a diminished object. It will never be the same as it was before the clumsy oaf broke it.

BTW- Fuck the clumsy oaf. You cannot trust him with the glue to fix it because he's just going to use it to huff the fumes.

So apart from being demonstrably insane, he’s putting together a vaudeville act starring him, Leavitt, Hegseth and Putin, with guest appearances by Pammy (with a whip) and the ghost of Epstein materializing to shout (can ghosts shout if they’d been strangled??) Bill Barrrrr, Biiiillllllll Baaarrrr aarrggle barrggllle……”

A vaudeville act? GET THE HOOK

1. Reopening the strait is not an objective.

2. Aside from killing a lot of Brown Muslim people, the closing of the strait is one of the only things that this not-a-war has accomplished.

3. Therefore, it follows logically that closing the strait was one of the objectives of the not-a-war and in this endeavor the US military has succeeded.

I’m gonna say it again. The “new regime” is Reza Pahlavi. Some idiot has convinced Trump that Reza can be easily “installed” to lead Iran and that he’ll do whatever Trump wants him to do.

TheGreatAndPowerfulMormos!'s avatar

Serious question: how does this end?

Dogfather's avatar

With US military victory parades in Tehran?

Being greeted as liberators? Big strong Iranians with tears in their eyes?

VwllssWndr's avatar

That's up to Iran. I doubt they'll lose interest in retaliation even if we pull out tomorrow.

" the new Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is more hardline and conservative than his father,"

And is probably, and rightfully, completely pissed off that Mr. Trump killed his father.

They'll start targeting his properties soon enough.

A funny thing about war crimes is that they have never before spawned retaliatory strikes. Never ever.

This is one deeply stupid person.

What Fran Leibowitz said.

I have to disagree with her assessment, though, because plenty of people believe he's smart. That makes them even stupider.

Bagels of Doom's avatar

To be fair, being dazzled by con-persons isn't a sign of being stupid. There are plenty of intelligent religious people, for example.

Maybe don’t label every country as an ally or enemy? There are countries that have to deal with Trump and countries that don’t.

And while I’m at it, every time someone posts “I wish European leaders would. . .” or “Why don’t European countries. . .” just hear the following in my voice:

“It’s not our job to wipe your arse for you.”

Whale Chowder's avatar

Yup, we stepped in it, we need to clean off our own shoes.

If FOTUS walks away though, you all might have to do some fast tapdancing in your own interests.

I'm actually considering what it might cost to convert our boiler from gas to electric, given that gas is going to be in short supply for the forseeable future. This article:

https://defytheodds88.substack.com/p/mapping-the-damage-from-the-iran

suggests that LNG supply isn't going to fully recover for as much as 5 years.

Converting to electric and installing solar/battery could actually pencil out.

donnie fancies himself an expert in real estate doesn't he?

But that can't be true. Because the first thing any savvy real estate developer does when looking into the proposed real estate transaction is the TITLE SEARCH. It's risky to overlook this step since any unpaid taxes, liens and past unresolved ownership issues become the new owners problems once the deal is sealed.

Yet donnie bought a ton of trouble when Bibi told him everything was fine and donnie should move right in to his new and permanent primary residence. Bibi overlooked the information about the foundation being made entirely of corpses going back over 4000 years. That ground over there is HAUNTED AS FUCK!

Ain't donnie ever seen *The Amityville Horror*? Who buys a house built on ancient cemeteries? Ain't nothing but trouble for the new owners!

"GET OUT! YOU DUMB FUCK!"

VwllssWndr's avatar

I think you're referring to "Poltergeist." That's the one with the house built on the Indian burial ground.

Everything I've seen and read about the oil supply is that we're at the point where all the ME folks will have to shut down production because there is nowhere to store any more oil.

Once that happens it will take months to crank it all back up and get back to whatever the new normal is.

Also, that is assuming that the US fucktator doesn't hit Iran's oil facilities, because if that happens Iran is almost 100 percent going to destroy all the facilities of the other countries in the region. Then, world recession/depression/party like it's 1999, y'all.

> Great Leader and his team have supposedly “assessed that a mission to pry open the chokepoint would push the conflict beyond his timeline of four to six weeks,” so he doesn’t want to do that.

Remember when Biden was weak, senile -- if not an active Taliban agent! -- for holding to the Afghanistan withdrawal timeline that TFG "negotiated"? Because of how if you give the enemy a deadline, they'll just wait you out?

(Also too, funny how that same logic didn't apply to when we justified torture with "ticking time-bomb" fantasies.)
