Somebody must have got to Merchan. There must be a threatening skeleton somewhere. I doubt Trump will ever be sentenced, even if he manages to not quite cheat enough to win.

I want to scream again: Delaying sentences in order to not appear political IS POLITICAL.

We can only infer one lesson from the life of Donald Trump: constant whining and complaining about unfair treatment WORKS.

Again and again our justice system bends over backwards to accommodate Trump so as to show no appearance of bias, and again and again he manages to skate by with no real accountability. Not only that, but he and his followers will NEVER be happy with his treatment. No amount of deference will be enough for them to say "this judge really avoided the appearance of bias."

12 jurors risked their lives to hand down 34 counts of GUILTY on Trump for felonies. Judge Merchan should at least show equal meddle.

Although I was looking forward to it, I’m actually ok with Judge Merchan delaying the sentencing. Why? Because TFG got a huge boost in fundraising after he was convicted, and the delay means he can’t use whatever sentence is imposed to further rally his MAGA minions before the election. The man is a (slow) walking grievance machine.

And, reading the tea leaves, I’m choosing to believe that Merchan is considering a sentence consisting of at least *some* jail time, or at least house arrest. If he was inclined to just give TFG probation, then it wouldn’t really be ELECTION INTERFERENCE, would it?!

In any event, the most important thing is that we all vote for Harris/Walz in the election, so TFG never gets his tiny hands and fat ass anywhere near the White House again.

Had to bring him up, din't ya.

So, in order to not give the impression of fucking the election, they fuck the election? Makes perfect sense.

He does the crimes and we do the time, nine years so far. By these rules, we don’t get time off for good behavior.

This is some bull shit and it stinks.

Merchan has created not just the "appearance" but the reality that the proceeding "has been affected by" the election. I far prefer Chutkan's approach.

What happened to, as republicans used to love to say, "you do the crime you do the time."?
