A large percentage of MAGA believes Africa is a single country. I guess now they know that Africa contains some separate nations, albeit AI hallucinated ones, but maybe progress to the bigots and morons?
As someone who puts together presentations for work, like, a lot, and who's done things precisely like this, like, a lot, I have to say that to do this you basically have to intend to do this.
If I had this brief, to make this map, I'd use any number of available tools — quite readily available! and free! and easy! — to do so.
While I can never overestimate their stupidity and incompetence, I also have to assume this was intentional.
1. To troll the libs. Naturally we are all up in arms about their stupidity. They enjoy watching us get all riled up; they don't care that they look stupid.
2. As an exercise in power. To show they can distort reality any way they like, and force everyone else to conform.
I don't buy their AI excuse. Someone made up this map by hand to conform to their agenda of (1) and (2) [above].
You guys are saying this proves AI doesn’t work. And yet it clearly succeeded when some DOGEcrook gave it the prompt, “Find everyone in the State Department who knows or cares about Africa, and fire them.”
It's simple. They are competent at destruction, and only that. Don't ask them to make anything, do anything worthwhile, execute an ordinary business process, etc. Not in their wheelhouse!
My guess is those are not "Nations" but instead "proposed development zones" being studied by State Department officials from a completely different section. Someone just grabbed the 'map' off someone else's desktop and repurposed it.
The original "map" is actually color coded to show areas where specific raw material, minerals, fresh water and other exploitable resources are being targeted for "acquisition and development". Some of the proposed areas are beach front property in case the Gaza Project falls through.
I assume it was for this conference, but I heard on NPR this morning that Brazil wouldn't let 2 State Department employees into the country because they were believed to be coming to Brazil to involve themselves in election interference for Bolsonaro's kid.
I think it was 2 separate things, but I am not sure. They just mentioned "senior WH officials" or something like that.
