One of them really, really wanted IN the water, but the parents told me they were smart enough to learn from experience that wet dogs were not welcome in the hammocks afterward.

They are spooky smart. And they talk. His best friend as a puppy was an egret and he'd scream EGROT when he saw him, so they would hang out and look at stuff and it was weird because who picks an egret as their best friend?

Yep. Public Safety. Meaning, we haven't been maintaining the space under our transmission lines, and we're going to set all the motherfucking forests on fire if you don't let us cut you all off. I decided to spend the next few days in Crescent City, 90 minutes north of home, so that I can have electricity. Apparently, one of the local hospitals chose the same for 20+ of their patients on medical devices, as, at check-in, the hotel clerk mentioned that they have 20 or so reservations for said people from St. Joseph's Hospital in Eureka. Good to know that PG&E's refusal to maintain their own fucking lines is having a potential health impact as well as the economic impact.

I'm checking out solar w/battery options for my home this weekend. Sure, it won't help me now, but as a work-from-home-slacker-software-engineer, I need reliable electricity.

There's absolutely no reason for privatized public utilities.
