Nice how when the governor tries to go it's implied that it's grandstanding, but when the president arrives it's green lights all the way (so he can do the same thing).
Found this Outer Sphere channel that has all manner of Sci Fi stuff. Apparently there was a Robo Cop series, "Prime Directives". Looks pretty bad, from 2001! Managed to run one season because that's probably what they produced before renewal or lack there of.
Doesn’t “Palmer Luckey” sound like a character in some mediocre mid 2000s comedy about a casino heist or some dumb shit like that? Why is he a person who actually exists and has sway in the world?
Yet again we get another example of Murc's Law, and attendant to that, the permission structure in American politics for Republicans to shit on entire cities and states. We frequently see the politicians using these places as epithets, and for mainstream media it gives them the vapors. I remember the months-long freakout about Hillary Clinton correctly assessing so many of the sadopopulism-drunk cultists as 'deplorables,' the people aligning themselves to a racist, sexist, chiseling con man-cum-carnival barker.
But this kind of vile trash spewing out of the mouth of America's Pilonidal Cyst is just Tuesday. We have to remember why this is: These places are allowed to be openly demonized because they harbor and protect the minorities that the unreconstructed hate. Democrats don't do this because in every state there are vulnerable people who would be cast in the net. Even as a number of rank-and-file Democrats complain about the state of things in many unreconstructed state-based regimes of terror, the Democratic politicians and candidates don't shit on entire cities and regions, or states.
This is an uneven permission structure in American politics and it makes me sick. We are in a situation where Republicans openly run to be the representatives only of the rural or suburban unreconstructed, and can even openly vow to lay siege to American cities (typically ones also led by Black Democrats).
People need to realize that the racism attendant in this is the "reason for the season." Don't listen to anyone's excuses about "security" and "inflation" and "groceries." Millions of Americans want to self-own to cater to their own bigotries. Your job in less than a month now is to outnumber them at the polls. Are you ready? Is your voting plan in order? Is your registration still active? Are you ready to go in person as early as possible, or use an official dropbox as early as possible?
In December 2025, members of the activist group CodePink heckled Bessent while he ate at the Brazilian-influenced Italian restaurant Reveler’s Hour in Washington, D.C., where a starter of grilled carrots cost $19, and encouraged other diners to give him a mock toast.
“So let’s give it up for the man who is eating in peace as people starve across the world based on his sanctions, which are economic warfare,” CodePink organizer Olivia DiNucci said.
Bessent first responded to the demonstration by sarcastically raising his glass and calling the protesters “ignorant.” The Treasury secretary then “erupted” at the restaurant’s owner for not removing them, then spat in his own food and left, sources, including the owner, told The Wall Street Journal.
OT, but interesting: increased production at the Sparrow's Point Bethlehem Steel plant was what replaced the Johnstown, PA (my hometown) Bethlehem Steel plant in the 70s, leading to the economic cratering of the city. Now Bethlehem Steel is dead in both places.
Um, Dom, not to be pedantic (I'm totally being pedantic), but it's "Anduril" after Aragorn's remade sword in Lord of the Rings, not "Andruil"... though something pronounced "An-drool" seems appropriate for the current state of our defense industry.
And here is Jack Smith responding to Sen. Richard Blumenthal's questions in which he drops a few truth bombs for the asshole Republicans on the committee:
supposed to start churning out these mysterious robo-kill-boats sometime in 2030.
Meanwhile a fleet of Ukrainian robo-kill-boats launch a hundred flying drones, sink three Russian warships, and put on a spectacular laser-and-water show to the tune of Enter Sandman.
Remembrance: when they closed the Bethlehem Steel plant near my hometown in 1983, a lot of the families in my neighborhood, who dads were highly skilled shop foremen were moved by the company to Baltimore to work at the "ultra modern" Sparrow's point plant.
Interesting that the company's old Lackawanna works has never been redeveloped. Saw it back in June. All they've done over the last 40 years is tear down the buildings, and put up a handful of wind turbines. From the nearest highway, a quarter mile away, you can see how polluted the soil is, the strange pale green plants that grow up out of the yellow dirt.
But from a moral point of view, that industrial deadness is preferable to the waking death of filling boxes and bags with imported crap in some online order Warehouse. Or, being one of the potemkin workers cast in a long con to cheat the American taxpayer out of several billion dollars.
The site's not cleaned up because it would bankrupt multiple super funds. They made iron and steel between 1840 and 1983.
At its peak, it was one of the largest steel making operations on one site in the world. There was a sign that said that it was the largest steel plant in the Free world. That of course meant that the Soviets had one that was bigger.
The scale of the pollution is staggering. Super fund, which still exists and is still cleaning up. Sites slowly around the country, is inadequate to this task.
Short. Story: in about 1981, I visited the local town beach. Just down on the Lakeshore from the steel mill. There's no sign indicating that that point on lake Erie is one of the most productive sites for finding devonian era fossils in the world. People come from all over to pick up fossilized coral and trilobites from the water's edge.
On that visit, I thought I had found the geological discovery of the age. A rock, about as big as a hoagie roll. But incredibly light. Pockmarked with a million holes.
I took it home with me and waited patiently for my father to return from work that afternoon. I made plans about where we do the press conference and what we'd say.
It took him just a glance to see what it was. That's a lump of steel slag, son.
And so it was. I just brought home a piece of industrial pollution. Bubbles skimmed from the top of a 3,000-degree steel making furnace, frozen as a matrix of cooled impurities and trace metals.
We set it in the flower garden, where it served as a decoration until it rusted into powder.
"But Luckey developed a reputation as someone who did not play well with the other children in Silicon Valley"
Given how many people in SV fit that description, it doesn't really make him an outlier.
I like pictures from the future.
Nice how when the governor tries to go it's implied that it's grandstanding, but when the president arrives it's green lights all the way (so he can do the same thing).
"Trump was joined by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao."
To be fair, Pete Hegseth is in the middle of an attempt of acting as Secretary of Defense.

The finest sci-fi series ever produced was the Canadian-German collaboration LEXX. Fight me!
Also too, there will be an internal throw-down regarding who is sexier, Zev or Xev. Bring your own boner. Standard rules: no shirts, no shoes.

Philip K. Dick character.
Minor character in a Quentin Tarantino movie. Who gets shot eventually.
Manual girlfriend with red lipstick.
Apparently his sister, Ginger Luckey, is married to Matt Gaetz.
Or a professional Skateboarder.
Great pictures, Dominic!

Mount up!
And Don't Give Up The Ship!

Hillary, that reminds me of an older pic of her I ran across recently.

Ooh, no wonder Trumpazoid MAGAt women (according to TFG his own self) want to hook up with Scotty...
That is unforgiveable. Utterly and entirely.
This regime is barbaric.
Bessent is volatile. Ask black-eyed Elon.
The one good thing he did.
Are there *any* grownups in the Maladministration?
People had some hope with Susie, but no, it's like a giant rapey frat filled with enablers

Meh, asshole doesn't like Baltimore because blah people live there.
Here's a palate cleanser. From "Girl with the Dogs", Vanessa gives Cartier, a 15-week old British Longhair adorbs kitten, a spa day. Enjoy!

Addressed to Iran
Suggesting they bomb
Mar-a-Lago
Would be precious . . .

Remember when we had a Superfund to clean up land like that?

Sounds a lot like the Sydney Tar Ponds:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Tar_Ponds
Looks like that place actually got something cleaned up. And it only took 22 years for them. For Lackawanna, it's 40 plus and counting.
They did. Though there was a point in time where you dared not walk across it as flares could spring up anywhere at anytime from beneath the surface.
