My son had a play date yesterday with a little boy from his class. They went to a trampoline park. His parents are Russian immigrants. They came here at ages 6 and 10, respectively, when things got ugly for their parents in the 90s. They love America and how free it feels, at least compared to Russia, and they despise Putin. Their son is bilingual and fluent in English and Russian. It was very interesting to talk to them. They sounded heartbroken about what Russia has become under Putin. They think our politics are crazy enough too. But they don’t think about politics. They are math professors and they don’t watch television at all, except their son can watch cartoons on his tablet. Very nice people.
