Hitler never gets enough credit for being the guy who killed Hitler.

Dshwa's avatar

Like everything else, Trump is a cheap imitation Hitler, not the real one.

Which is still incredibly dangerous.

"Trump typed, with random capital letters on nouns like a common poor man’s Hitler..."

Dammit, NO. In German you capitalize EVERY noun (and one pronoun [not "I"] always and two pronouns when you are addressing someone in writing), not random nouns. In German, you would be UNcapitalizing random nouns. And any Deutsche/r would pitch a fit if they saw it.

Capitalizing nouns was the only feature of German that Mark Twain thought sensible.

"Trump typed, with random capital letters on nouns like a common poor man’s Hitler:"

I just realized that capital letters on nouns is proper German grammar. Did... did Trump learn to write from reading Hitler's writing?

skinnercitycyclist's avatar

But in German, you capitalize every noun. If Trump were somehow glitsching in German, he would be randomly UNcapitalizing nouns.

On the one hand, this almost warrants another watch through of the whole of Der Untergang. A masterpiece of cinema. Surprisingly funny quips in there, despite the horrible nature of the subject.

"Hello. I am here to be executed."

"No, general. The Fuhrer has asked that you take control of the defense of Berlin."

"Oh..... I believe I would rather be executed."

Es ist ja am Ende alles gleich!

All she said was you are a fascist, you were the one who jumped straight to Hitler, which say a lot more about you than her.

Kilroy's avatar

Don't call him Hitler, Hitler was NOT a fascist, Hitler was a Nazi. However, DJT does fit the description of a fascist and for those Americans who don't know or who have forgotten their history lessons, the founder of the Fascist movement was the swaggering, fat, bumbling, clown named Mussolini also famously known as Il Duce. Trump is an Il Duce.

skinnercitycyclist's avatar

Hitler was a fascist. He meets the criteria. So does Trump.

Regret's avatar

Nazi is a subtype of fascist. And yeah, the parallels between Trump and Il Duce are creepy.

Sean McCoy Writes's avatar

We should start calling him "Donald Hitler".

Sean McCoy Writes's avatar

He never talks about Mussolini, too many syllables.

Viole Falusche's avatar

How about "Donnie Duce?" Would that work?

Kilroy's avatar

Nope, call him Il Duce he is more of a Mussolini than Hitler.

Anzu's avatar

Mango Mussolini was one of the better nicknames for him.

Cheeto Benito also too

That dipshit surely has no idea that Hitler's generals did try to kill him a couple of times, right? What is it with these assholes and their love of losers? They cling to those losers the Confederates, and now the Nazis? Get a grip!

Nemo's avatar

My favorite confederate to hate is Braxton Bragg. Pre-war he got into an argument with his quartermaster, who kept rejecting his request for more supplies. In addition to being the commanding officer making the requests, he was also the quartermaster rejecting them. Bragg was arguing with himself. Bragg was an idiot and a lousy general. Fort Bragg should have been renamed Fort Longstreet, who was a good general and who supported his friend Ulysses Grant.

I love this story.

I would like credit for nobly refraining from making an Operation Valkyrie joke every time the "I need generals like Hitler" line comes up, as I believe it would be in violation of rules for radical commenters

Dunno, even Kelly told Trump, "You know, Hitler's generals tried to kill him...?"

Sarah Smile's avatar

I don't think Kelly is a Wonkette non-commenter.

You didn't know Gallbladder is John Kelly?

He's a well known Koi aficionado.

I believe it. You can see it in his eyes.

These are same people who accuse even the most conservative Democrat or centrist liberal of being a "godless," bloodthirsty Marxist who idolizes Stalin and Pol Pot because they think the rich ought to pay a little more in taxes or that maybe civilians shouldn't own military-style firearms. No one calls them out on that claim, yet the MSM wrings it's hands when a Democrat points out that a Republican politician who pals around with white supremacists or claims that America is a "Christian Nation" is acting a little fashy.

I think we are where PA is the key. TFG is putting a lot of eggs in that basket and if he wins it it's probably over. All in in PA!

Trump’s former chief of staff John Kelly told him explicitly NOT TO TALK LIKE THAT. People were NOT going to understand what he was saying nor was anyone going to supply a subtle and nuanced analysis of his words so that people could achieve a deeper insight into what donnie meant.

But John Kelly was wrong about that: certain people understand perfectly what he is saying. Those same people are more than ready to TRY to provide subtle, nuanced interpretations of his statements so that no one else understands what he really is actually saying. But his die-hard fanboys know where he is going with it all and they cannot wait to help him do it all.

When he says he wants to build camps for migrants he means exactly that. The only thing he is leaving out of the picture are the tall smoke stacks attached to the crematoriums.
