True story: When my mother could no longer have more babies because her body was broken by too many babies (Not precisely quiverfull: mom had a lot of childhood trauma and was trying to baby her way to feeling loved. It was a thing. She was an amazing mom! Just...a bit crackers, I digress) she took in fosters from Catholic Charities. We'd get the babies that were being given up for adoption and needed a place to stay until it went through. All kinds of babies! Black, brown, white, we must have fostered a dozen at least. Mind, the parents did not get paid for this! They did get formula and diapers though.
One time we were going to get a baby, but the teen mom changed her mind about the adoption, and her parents threw her out of their house. She was 16 years old. She turned to Catholic Charities and they asked my parents if they would take on the teen mom AND her baby.
My mom did without hesitation. She helped that young lady not only finish high school, but also become a nurse (the charity helped with her tuition, but the rents helped with the rest) and of course, how to take care of baby. We other kids of course considered it as having a new sister AND a baby too.
While her story ends tragically (she got into drugs later on in life) I remember her once coming over, years later, talking with my mom and thanking her for giving a damn. You were the first person in my life who cared, she said. I still tear up. Anyway, all that because of Catholic Charities.
This is just nuts! Innocent people suffer in crossfire of Trump's petty argument with pope doing pope stuff. Is Trump speedrunning how many enemies he can make in four years in office? The list is quite long already:
- most Europeans (trust me, we hate him)
- immigrants
- LGBTQIA+ and racial minorities
- everyone able to express any sort of empathy
- Christians
Only one to like him are MAGA cultists, pdfiles (not mutually exclusive) and zionists. Putin doesn't like him anymore and Orbán is out of power. What does he want?
The children don't deserve this, but ending any church-state violation is a net positive, and it's not like the Global Pedophile Protection Ring, aka the Catholic Church, doesn't have $11M lying around somewhere that it could put to good use instead of opposing LGBTQ+ rights and protecting the aforementioned child rapists.
