How many other election officials?

I'm guessing, a lot.

And Donald Trump is conspicuously fond of saying, "Everybody knows ... " about propositions that range from doubtful to ludicrous. Supporters of his like Wayne Allyn Root are just as fond of saying, or posting, "We all know ... " in connection with propositions just as shaky. Personally, I always was inclined to agree with the man who said, "When 'everybody knows' such and such - then it ain't so, by at least ten thousand to one."

Ta, Gary. Never believe a word TFG says. And Ronna has no shame.

Geez, I remember those two. Nobody could figure out at the time why they were doing it.

Why on earth does it take 3 damned years for shit like this to surface? Tick Tock!

Is there a link to the actual recordings?

"... boy people sure like to record him doing it"

These people are protecting themselves as well as the rest of us

How about Ronna Romney McDaniel also having a few consequences too for the first time in her privileged life, since she is also caught on tape encouraging - no, pressuring - people to disenfranchise voters who aren't (sufficiently) rich White men?

Can I get a LOCK HER UP to go with that LOCK HIM UP we ordered awhile back??

Lock. Her. Up.

Trump has been caught with more smoking guns than were at the Battle of the Bulge.

Lock him up!

Anybody else would be doing consecutive life sentences. It's pretty mind-boggling.

And where has this recording been the past two+ years?

Come on, people, if you have evidence against Trump, get that shit out there!

What, you think it's going to soar in value over the long term, like beanie babies and cabbage patch kids?

LOCK HIM UP ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This so damn exhausting. Wisconsin here. Our fake electors, admitted they were wrong and said they will never do it again. Until.....

Until they tried it again

That was his mistake. Trump should have assembled "a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude." (I do hope someone else gets the reference.)

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”

Lord Acton

Add to that the honesty and character of one DJT, and you just know someone is getting screwed.

The context of Lord Acton's remark is fascinating. He wrote it in opposition to the plan of Pope Pio Nono to declare himself infallible.

" But if there’s one thing we know about Trump, when he has a goal he will seek to accomplish it in the dumbest way possible."

Maybe not completely stupid.

Throwing out the votes of many "urban" people could have resulted in a protest, which however peaceful would have been dubbed a "riot" and with the opportunity of placing Proud (of accident of white birth) Boys infiltrating crowds to commit mayhem.

And giving him the pretext to declare "MARSHALL LAWS" and send troops and declare the election STOLLEN so he could refuse to leave or declare a do-over or try to do some other fascist thing.

He just wanted someone, anyone, anywhere to say there was fraud as an excuse to go full Nazi and use presidential powers and his control of the military to remain in office.

I am really hoping that's not the first time you thought that

Black people and other savvy voters of color were predicting thar before Jan 6 happened as soon as word got out something was being planned that looked like it.

Why do you think there were so few counterprotesters there that day?

Everyone who knew cautioned everyone else to stay home.

Yeah everyone knew what time it was. I am really proud of folks on the left having their discipline that day and not going down there. That was the whole gameplan.

His control of the military was tenuous at best. He didn't know for sure whether they'd follow his unconstitutional orders. Perhaps Milley told him outright. The best he was able to achieve with them is a delay from Michael Flynn's brother in deploying the National Guard to the Capitol on January 6th. Remember he tried to get troops removed from Germany and South Korea, per Putin's orders, and the military said, yeah, how about no.

Expand full comment

From what I understand, a president's powers to send out the Guard to quell an "insurrection" is prety broad.

And PAB's itching to use it if the opportunity provides itself in the future.

PAB is so fucking stupid he always assumes all republicans are as crooked as he is. I'm not saying there are any 100% honest republicans, otherwise they wouldn't support the biggest crook on the planet.

And on top of that, he always manages to pick from the tiny pool of them that actually have the minimal amount of integrity and true patriotism left in their souls to make his illicit phone calls to.

I knew a decent Republican once, but he's long dead now.

He assumes all people are as crooked as he is.

Because given the opportunity, everyone would spend every waking moment lying, cheating, stealing and grifting, right?
