This has to be so sad for the people who have come to this country in prior generations. We need to speak up loudly to those we know and love, and maybe those we don't, "look into your family's origination" in this land of the american dream. Remember who you were and how you were treated. I'm not native american, my people came from.....mostly England and Ireland, probably on the shipments of prisoners, not sure.

I've seen a bunch of news articles saying that Hispanics are moving toward trump. He just said they were to be deported if ANYONE in their family was not an american citizen. What the hell are they thinking?

This guy is white supremacist plus 1K. I hope most of the old white selfish people who support him are not mobile by election day.

Marie Brenner wrote about it in Vanity Fair years ago. I remain to be convinced that the cretin can read, however :)

I'm a bookseller, so my job is to know a little about lots of things. Has anybody yet broached the theory that Dumph might be manifesting tertiary syphilis? The progress of the disease is very gradual and seems it could be in line with what's going on with s*itler. I mean, all of his other medical records are fake lol

Expand full comment

You're not the only person with this theory.

Put another way, "Many people are saying Trump might have tertiary syphilis."

Mary Trump has said that Trump has had a copy of Mein Kampf for many years.

According to Marie Brenner's writing for Vanity Fair about Ivana BITD, Dump kept a volume of Hitler's quotes on his bedside table. I mean, it tracks. Just look at his old man :(

He was hoping for pictures, not text.

hahaha!

So, did Stephen Miller give Defendant "Vermin" Trump his signed copy of Mein Kampf, or did he buy one just for "Vermin?"

And who would have guessed this is the one book that Defendant Trump would actually read?

Thousands of his cultists consider it "blood poisoning" that his Aryan daughter married a Jew. But I guess that never occurred to him.

Do you know who else ripped off Hitler?

This is why I don't dither over current polling when there is no actual campaign going on.

When Joe and his many able surrogates are speechifying about bridges and manufacturing jobs and cheap insulin and ,well, about not letting pregnant women die and on keeping democracy alive while Trump yelps Hitlerisms to a nation that is now actually paying attention and his surrogates scurry away from it there actually will be opinion effects.

BTW - here is the needed ad: Run a Trump Hitlerly yelp and then cut to an old man in his VFW cap saying "My friends and I fought to make sure that this would never be America. On November 5 I'll keep fighting. I'll be voting for President Biden because the fight for America never stops."

One does wonder what the Greatest Generation thinks when the leader of an American political party quotes our former enemy and thousands cheer.

Thankfully, my Dad, who fought in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, was killed off by the VA in March 2002, so didn't have to see this s*t. Downside, he is dead. Thanks, VA!

The Greatest Generation are now in the 90-110 age range, so there aren’t that many of them left.

stephen miller probably had to turn mein kampf into a picture book with short words for trump to understand that and / or the most horrifying puppet show

Even his rabbi hates him. That's quite an achievement

America has the power to stop this fascist. No criminal case will, it will move too slow. The only way is to defeat him and his lickspittles at the ballot in less than a year.

Black folk get the message about President Klan Robe. So do Jewish people.

It's time for good Americans to crap or get off the pot. Either you believe you're one of the special ones that "did things the right way" or "It won't affect me," or you're going to join in to make sure each and every Republican, up and down the ballot, is defeated.

Because the Republicans will not stop this fool. They support him and they need his frothing brownshirt supporters. So it is incumbent on the good Americans all, to put aside any excuses and defeat President Klan Robe.

Anyone who neglects to oppose fascism is a fascist. There's no safe third lane for cowards.

So, we're watching re-runs of "King of the Hill" last night after dinner, and the episode was a 70s-themed party, with disco music, etc.

Louanne, the dumb niece, asks, "Who's Roy Cohn?", and the hub and I immediately and emphatically said, "Satan!"

It's interesting (if that is the word I want) how many chances we had over the past 50 years to pull up this fascism shit by the roots, if only we'd been MORE paranoid.

Anyone want to bet that Trump has Mein Kampf for Dummies on audiobook?

There was a story that TFG kept a copy of Hilter's speeches next to his bed. Don't know if it was ever confirmed

Strom Thurmond, who fathered a child with a Black woman, used to speechify against the race mixing. At last count, half of our 12 grandchildren are biracial. PAB is fighting an already lost war.

Biracial people are gorgeous, in my humble opinion! I once encountered an absolutely beautiful and tall man in a liquor store, and asked him his background. He was Syrian, Black and German. I was literally stunned by his looks.

Expand full comment

I don’t like the term biracial. It sort of sounds like something that an older conservative would say. Maybe it sounds (to me) like there are just two races. Black and white.

OROH I just love the phrase “two or more.” It makes me smile every time. It makes me think two is only the beginning of the possibilities.

Long ago I worked a census. There was a mind blowing teaching session on racial designations for each state. The words quadroon and mulatto were among the terms used. Southern states really outdid themselves.

I hate to tell you, but “you don’t have to feel badly for these people, because this specific group of people, for reasons, are bad and a threat to you, and their children will grow up to be bad and a threat to you” is also basic human instinct.

Expand full comment

Granted, but there's actual research to show that the fear part of conservatives' brains is much more dominant than it is in smart, decent people.

Expand full comment

Could be, but for my own sanity I have been working (and reading) to see the MAGAchud behavior in terms of broader human action. Reading E. O. Wilson on eusociality, several books recently on Trump and his use of language.

I am also leery of the moral outrage that often accompanies instances of racism. As policy, I try not to term people "racists," unless that is their stated explicit ideology. Instead, I see people responding in ways that were hard-wired into us about 10,000 years ago, and many of those ways are ill adapted to our current conditions.

People on the left can be pretty stupid and racist, too. Witness a lot of the ugliness coming out about Jews lately.
